How do you treat your leather dash?
For those with the leather dashboard:
- What products do you use to condition/protect it, if any? - Does anybody know if the leather dashboard has any UV protection from the factory? Car sits out in the hot North Carolina sun daily when I'm at work and I would prefer not to resort to using a sunshade. I wipe the dust off with a microfiber cloth weekly and have not applied any products to the dash. I currently have Colourlock leather shield applied to my carbon buckets and arm rest. Thanks |

I use griots leather car spray. Especially for the dash. It has a UV protectant and doesn't leave a gloss on the leather.
I'm in VA and my G83 has silverstone interior. So far no issues but only 3k miles. |

I applied CarPro ceramic coating for leather when new (December 2021) and occasionally use CarPro InnerQD (as in quick detailer). I keep a microfiber cloth and detailing brush handy for dusting (my own OCD). So far, so good.
I use (mild) Colourlock leather cleaner for removing dye transfer from Silverstone seats and body oils from steering wheel rim. Works a treat. |

To help prevent sun damage to the leather you can consider installing tint on all windows in your car - including the front windshield. I did a very low tint (95%) which you can't even tell is there except it cuts the glare and prevents the car from getting super hot while in the sun.

That is what the "L" is for in PERL. I have never used it on leather at all, as to me, leather needs cleaning, then protection/conditioning.

By all means, continue using PERL as your protectant then.
My point was, and I didn't make it very clear at all, that a multi purpose product such as PERL might not do as good a job as a single source product such as ColourLock's protectant. PERL might actually be better for you than whatever else is out there for your car and area you live in. Last edited by PHXATC; 10-16-2022 at 08:41 AM.. Reason: grammar, yo |

PERL has a glossing property to it; how much depends on how much you dilute it. I use PERL (diluted 1:1) for conditioning my tires, so it has a light shimmer to them.
I prefer my leather to retain its original matte finish, which is why I use other CarPro products (CQuartz Leather for protection, Inner QD for light cleaning) and Colourlock mild cleaner for anything more. |
