$2.8 billion should help Orlando catch up to the amount of travelers we now have.

Would respectfully disagree on ATL. It's my Delta layover airport, probably have flown through ATL 100 times, and can't think of a single missed flight, delay that caused me to tear my hair out, cancellation, poor customer service and so forth. Sure, there's the occasional delay, but all-in-all, for the busiest airport in the business, can't think of another one I'd prefer to fly through.
You are a lucky man w ATL lmao... i stood 3 hrs in the immigration line once and almost missed, i shit u not, a 4hr layover.

Haha, I lost my passport in Amsterdam once flying into ATL, immigration was a breeze, they pulled me aside for 10 minutes reviewed my drivers license, global entry information and the digital photo of my passport and I was on my way.

YES!! Glad someone said that, what a nightmare. Never would I have imagined such a sh*t show. I think they want you to give up while in line and just uber everywhere, it must be by design.

Miami was super accommodating in recently helping me and my biz partner skip every line to make our trip home from Antiqua to Orlando.

You forgot that their airspace butts-up against LA's. Our downwind sometimes got a bit north (out of position), causing BUR to get out of our way.

I'll take another angle - most dangerous airports - SNA (John Wayne/Orange County), and SAN (San Diego).

At John Wayne, there's a single short runway, with a general aviation runway right next to it - student pilots taking off/landing all day long right next to the big boys. About 10 incidents a year related to this, I read at some point in the past. And "noise abatement" takeoffs to minimize noise over Newport Beach - jets are required to take off at a high climb angle, then at some low altitude (I forget the figure), cut power way back. This often results in "power brake" takeoffs where the throttles are firewalled before releasing the brakes, much like you might do in your car. My best buddy is a retired AA captain, and he has schooled me of the dangers of these takeoffs, especially with inexperienced Cessna pilots in your proximity. When they cut power, they also lose a lot of maneuverability - not good if they suddenly were to need to change course quickly to avoid a collision.

Often the flight attendants will make an announcement before takeoff because the procedure can be unsettling to the uninitiated. One time on a Southwest flight, after such an announcement, when the pilot cut power during climb-out, she came back on the PA and said "Shhhhh! Be very quiet, we're flying over rich people." Truer words never spoken - noise regulation here but no such restrictions up the road at LAX.

Wanna bet? There's a reason we don't "chase the wind" and stay west even with a strongish east wind. Don't fly into/out of LAX between midnight & 0630. We land on 6R and depart 25R (over-ocean for noise). The turn-around (going back to west arrivals) at 0630 could get quite interesting. We had many, many, many noise-abatement rules. I thoroughly enjoyed violating them!

Wow I just went through there a couple of weeks ago and walked straight through security and customs. Think I had one person way ahead of me.

But then maybe that's because I was going through the side for US citizens. I always liked that I could clear customs on the Toronto side rather than having to wait until I arrive in Denver.

I live 20 minutes away (without traffic) yet even at 5:30am on a weekday it takes over 45 minutes to reach. The 110 fwy and the airport circle itself are parking lots. Then when arriving, have to take a bus to a ride share location, wait on the Uber/Lyft, sit in traffic again, etc.

In any properly developed city, I would be able to just hop on a train directly to/from the airport. But we can't have that in Southern California, car dependence is king.
The thing I really like about LAX is security being at each terminal, unlike the mess they have at DIA.

I also tend to like walking the tunnels there. I will usually take a stroll from Terminal 7/8 over to the international terminal so I can visit Pret.

It seems the bigger the airport, the worse it is, at least in the USA.

I’ve had good experiences at Tokyo (Narita) and Seoul. In the US, Daytona is better than Orlando, Sanford is pretty good too. LEX was better than Louisville, but Cincinnati is pretty good (because it was built to be a hub for Delta or NWA before their merger and then never got the traffic). SNA is good for a busy little airport, Long Beach can be good too.

What I really enjoy, for travel domestically, is driving. My radius is over 10 hours now (inside that drive time I drive, outside of it I will look at flying). There is really nothing about commercial flying I like any more, except the speed for a very long trip.

I stand corrected. What's the curfew at SNA? IIRC it is (was) 0800 before anyone could take off, which is insane. Aren't those fat cats under the departure path up by then?

London Heathrow! One and done. We had to take a bus from the plane to the terminal that I swear we were on for 10min. Then I got hassled for the size of my 22" carry on for my international flight, even thought I'd just taken an international flight with it. There were a few other hassles. I have no desire to go back. I'll take Gatwick.

Maybe it's just my luck, though I don't think so, but after having status on all 3 of the major US airlines, I can confidently say that Delta has the best customer service, punctuality, reliability, fleet, app, food (in Delta One anyway) lounges and so forth. It's also the most expensive of the 3 airlines, which is it's biggest drawback.

As with any list, I'm not sure I completely agree with this from my personal experiences. Interesting, nonetheless:

https://www.jdpower.com/business/pre...sfaction-study

By the way, there are several metrics used to rank the busiest airports. Two of the more popular are in passengers moved and the other being operations or movements (landings and takeoffs) which is what I would think an ATC would look at. They could probably care less how many passengers are onboard, but how many planes they depart and arrive is their workload.

Here's a listing of that for 2021:

Every time I travel I hate coming back into Honolulu International (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport) It's so outdated and inefficient. Gosh the Sydney and Narita airports were amazing.

No one flown thru Kansas City? Now that's a crappy airport, amenity wise. We will have a new terminal next year though and it will be NICE.

I have a 5-6 hr cutoff for driving... 10 is a bit extreme... anything above 6 hrs I really would prefer to fly even tho I loathe commercial... the beauty of flying has been stolen by the airlines, overcrowded planes, shoddy airports and just rude people that dont' want to be there.

O'Hare - too big, trip to the runway takes so long I though the plane was going to drive to Seattle. International customs is great though.

SEA - terrible for customs. played 20 questions with 3 different agents (they were doing this to everyone) after a long flight from EU. Just wanted to go home to sleep.
