Grill Question
We just built an outdoor kitchen and my husband needs a new grill cleaning brush. What do you guys use? I looked at this but is it worth the price? We also got a griddle so looking at some accessories for that also.

I just use the cheapest brush I can find at the local hardware store that has plastic bristles. I find the metal bristles tend to damage the coating on the grill grates and cause them to rust over time.

Definitely go soft bristle. If metal, brass only. Otherwise the brush will damage the grill. The one the OP linked is stainless steel, which would damage most grills except maybe the uncoated, steel, rusty ones in the park.
I just heat my grill super hot after cooking, then when it cools it is easy to clean with soft tools. |

I wouldn't use a metal brush, eventually it will damage your grill grates, and it is not safe to use. Overtime you might end up with a piece of steel in your food.
I use wooden scrapers. I've had these two for a few years now. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07MJHXB43?...eniuslink=true https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07B7QFG79?...eniuslink=true |

Sorry for going off topic but that website is terrible. It looks like a website made to lure in older folks. They sell junk, cheap no name products at such a high cost. Literally a glorified version of Aliexpress but with a USA middleman that is sucking money out of people. Wow lol.

I was just looking and saw it. I have no idea which is why I asked. Don’t worry, I didn’t order from any China site. Going to my local store that has a lot of grill supplies now that I know what to look for.

If your cooking grates are stainless steel, then that is the perfect brush (personal experience).
If you have ceramic-coated or iron, then a softer brush will result in longer life of the cooking grates. |

Grille rescue. Some fireman made soft cleaner pads from fire hose material, put them on the end of a handle. You soak them in water a bit, then with the hot grill you rub/steam them clean. Can get an optional handle with plastic scraper.

I have stainless steel grates and use a Weber metal bristle brush most regular cleaning.
If you want the steam action, there are brushes you can buy (probably for around $20) that don’t have bristles - just woven metal. You can dip those in water before scrubbing hot grates and it has that same steam effect. Yes, you have to dip them in water a few times while cleaning so it’s not built into the brush, but it works when you want to use steam. But I don’t think steam is needed for every cleaning. Also, I get grill cleaned professionally at least once a year.

They don`t last forever, maybe 5 years, depends on how often you BBQ. |
