Car Washing for Noob
Hi,
What products would I need as a beginner to wash my car well? I don't need to do a full detail every time but something to keep my car looking presentable between real details that I pay for. I have a BSM car so it's so much dirtier than I'm used to after just 3-5 days and I don't want to have to get it washed weekly. Also the brake dust with factory brakes is disgusting. I have a pressure washer but nothing else. Just looking for the easiest stuff that I can use maybe once every 5 days that would take half an hour and I could get my car washed every 3 weeks to a month. |

I’m going to just foam it and rinse it off, should be good enough if I’m doing it once a week with a good detail once a month. Also getting it ceramic coated.

OP what's the weather like where you're at? i think using ONR and a IK sprayer with a handful of quality microfiber towels will get you by between washes.
interested to hear what others think on cleaning wheels tho. i've always struggled with finding a good way to clean wheels other than actually washing them

Wow... It varies so much, buy mainly by tolerance for time and pocket!
2 bucket system with grit guards A good foam cannon Good soap De-ironizer Good microfiber wash mits Excellent drying waffle towels or air dryer A finish detail spray to use if using waffle towels Separate brushes for wheels and drying towels Good carnuba wax This is for exteriors... 3 years and barely a swirl or scratch on the paint! For the process... I rinse with heavy flow... I foam then rinse, then foam again, let sit for 5 mins Then 2 bucket wash Wheels first or last, don't matter, just be careful with splash if last. Dry, I use waffle towels with Wolfgang Detail Spritz Finish wheels and rubber... Do door jams, sills and under hood galleys, touch up when done with damp clothes (microfibers) If using a cover, I cover after it's dried and keep it covered unless it gets dirty, no cover when dirty until next wash. Will take it in for some detail/paint correction for some roads chips soon, to keep it fresh and clean. Get a good foam cannon, don't skimp. And I use a deionizer for the rinse as it leaves not water spots. Good Luck |

No one is talking about water
Is your water hard? Do you have a water softener? Do not let the car dry in the sun. You will have spots regardless. Soft water is important. Prolongs the life of your equipment, makes it easier to wash and reduces spots on paint. |
