I didn't buy it for the attention, I bought it because I love it. But it was quite surprising given the level of e-hate that the platform gets.
On the road I get at least one or two thumbs up every time I take the car out. It’s a good car!

My i4? All angles but the front please

Interior on the new cars is much....MUCH better and the overall chassis feel of the G80 is better than the F80.
Another irrefutable sin of the G8x besides the design looks is it's rather significant 330 lbs heavier than its predecessor F8x.

For context, the base model Ford F150 truck is only 108 lbs heavier than the G82.

Absolutely refutable, since the difference is less than 200 lbs for similarly equipped cars, provided the numbers aren't juiced by having differing fuel levels.

BMW's Official wet weight for an F82 DCT is 3,685, while for a G82 Comp 8AT it's 3,880, a difference of 195 lbs. This is in line with magazine testing and weights taken by owners.

The lightest G80 configuration, the base 6MT with carbon buckets and CCBs, comes in right at 3,700, while the equivalent F80 is 100 lbs lighter at 3,600.

100-200 lbs is not nothing, but it's also not a lot considering the significant increase in size and power.

The only way to get to a 330 lb gap is to compare a stripper manual F80 with CCBs to an automatic xDrive Competition G80 loaded except for base seats and iron brakes. But that would be intellectually dishonest.

The whole weight discussion point makes no sense to me. How much do the c63 and rs5 weigh? It's not the G8X that's getting heavier... it's ALL CARS getting heavier.

An F150 truck that's a base model is has 3 seats an open bed and less sound deadening material and probably less structural reinforcement around the cabin.

Apples/oranges comparison.

Do I need an M3 in my life?

Good question....but if you're asking yourself such a thing....probably, you don't.

The real question should be the following in my opinion: "Do I want a usable sportscar in my life?"

It's something up to you. The G80xdrive is the best sports car I've ever owned (for the time being), and I ensure you that is the best BMW on sale today. I (my brother...tbh) also have a 2023 M5c, an M8c coupé and an M550i. In the past we owned several BMWs, including an M140i 5 doors (wonderful car) and the one I miss the most.....an e39 M5 lci back in 2004.....when I was still a teenager....sweet memories with that car.....

BMWs are true daily sportscars, maybe aren't as focused as a track daily GT3, or aren't WOW cars as a Ferrari (or a Lambo) is...... but they offer a complete package overall.

Which one for me? The G80 xdrive. the best BMW listed today. No doubts about. And for those who blame the "awful" grille......to me is the key feature of the car. It's a complete eye catcher, believe me.....because everythime I drive it, people faces "speak" their own.

When you put it like that, the answer is absolutely yes
