Bone breaking roller coaster in Japan

Saw this article and it made me want to ride this thing! Can't imagine accelerating to 112mph in 1.56 seconds

Yeah I saw that. They closed it down for good however because apparently four people either broke their necks or back, LOL.

I keep thinking of that Top Gear episode where Clarkson broke his neck cornering in the GTR.

Damn. Years ago, i went on a launchpad type coaster that went 0-70 in something like 2.5 seconds. Could not even imagine 112 in 1.5, that sounds equal parts insane and awesome. Makes the Tesla Roadster look tame

I don't think they closed it down for good but did so temporarily until they can identify whether measures need to be taken. I mean yeah, it's a monster of a ride and there are health risks which are clearly provided to those with the guts to ride this thing. Pretty sure it'll open back up again.

I loved that episode and watching Clarkson limp off, lol. Made me want to drive the GTR on that track!

I'm waiting for a Tesla driver to claim they can do better.

I was at Fuji-Q last year, Do-dodonpa is still closed. I did ride the other coasters and they are physically challenging. And I consider myself a rollercoaster fan. One of them gave me neck strain due to the g-forces and being whipped around so many times. Those Fuji-Q rides earn their records. Highly recommended!

I’d love to have a medical professional chime in here with a comment on the physical effects on the body of 112 mph acceleration in 1.56 seconds in the given environment. It sounds unsafe to me and like something where you’d need to be packing in like an astronaut.

Don't get on roller coasters if you are myopic. It's an increased risk of retina detachment.

I think that's about 3.2 - 3.3 g's. I remember reading somewhere that astronauts experience around 3 g's at lift-off. Pretty wild!

Interesting. I’ve never heard that. I used to ride roller coasters pretty regularly and I am severely myopic/nearsighted. Without my glasses the big E on the chart is just a black blob.

Without proper restraints and equipment, it can be VERY dangerous. Dragsters are beginning to get to where human beings cannot withstand the acceleration. I'd have to do the maths properly, but this is certainly skimming the edges.

Screw that, haven't you guys watched enough Final Destination movies? Heck, there were many real-life stories where something horrible and freaky happened on amusement rides. It would be really stupid to have that on one's tombstone. D'oh! Hellz to the noes.
