Gift Giving

What gift or gifts are you most looking forward to giving this Christmas?

My 11 yr old has been asking for a gas powered mini bike. So I've told him Santa might bring him an upgraded razor this Christmas, but he doesn't want electric (even kids know electric is no fun). So I got him a mini bike and some upgrades.

My 9 nieces and nephews are all between 21 and 30. I'm at a loss. I had so much fun when they were younger, getting the perfect gift for each of them. Now, they have everything and if there is a want, it's a big ticket want. So I give them cash. I hate doing that. I feel like it's lazy and a cop out. They don't seem to mind.

But it's not the same. I so enjoyed coming up with what to get each of them and the look on their faces, them jumping up and down and carrying on over what a great gift. That's what made my Christmas.

Yeah, they can buy what they want with cash but it doesn't seem personalized. What can you do if you can't think of something, and that is a lot of nephews and nieces.

Thanks to my family's "Proclamation No Presentation" between siblings three decades ago, nobody can spend more than $1.00 on a gift for anyone over age 18...and re-gifting is permitted. Parents are excluded, so I have to ship something to my mom that I have already obtained.

There is only one nephew left under 18 that I need to buy a gift for, and he is really easy to shop for.....

How about setting them up with retirement accounts or precious metals instead of the cash?

Back in the 1970's when the sale of gold/silver became legal again, I asked my parents and grandparents for an ounce of gold each ($32/ounce) in lieu of gifts. I'll let you do the math.....
