Yeah in 08 they added the center console trim with the fake stitching and fake carbon pattern. Before that it was just a giant hunk of silver plastic, with a separate cutout called the tombstone. It looked terrible, like the C5 interior.

Don't get me wrong, 08+ didn't turn into a Bentley, but it was a lot better than the initial interior.

Corvettes biggest issue is how far above its class it lunches in performance. It smashes cars like the M3 in performance, but costs less. And because those cars are luxury cars first, their interiors are way nicer. And they get compared a lot because they're the closest things in performance to them. None of the exotics will let people compare their cars vs Corvettes, Top Gear did it once with the 575M vs the C6Z06 and the Corvette trounced it. That's bad for the image of the exotics, so that doesn't happen anymore.
