Why the PHEV for the G90 M5? Here you go!

- You want the truth?!

- I want the truth!

- You can’t handle the truth!

Like I said, M Division had its hands tied.

They didn’t want just a temporary Boost function with a Performance Hybrid setup like the 992.2 T-Hyrid 911, even though that would have kept weight in check.

And Full Electric, it still takes too long to charge, especially for track duty.

We live in a different era now. Just be glad we still have the V8.

Read for yourself.

Sorry but BMW screwed up. It was better to go full EV, instead of having a 2.5 tonnes car.

BMW M5 was always the choice for the driver enthusiast as it was lighter, more nimble and fun when driving at the limit. Previous gen the F90 was absolutely terrific at that (although a little mute and understated most of the time), and the E63 S ran it very close.

Now its just a heavy luxury barge (which does the luxury part worse than the F90) with a V8. There is just so many other choices you can partake (Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, the new E63 S (which will be the same platform V8 + Hybrid), the S 63 S AMG and so many other cars)

The Audi S8 is 209" long and weighs 5125 lbs. Has a V8, and no need to plug in.

Hard to believe it's 400 lbs less of a land yacht than the M5.

S7 performance is also a consideration and is significantly lighter also. And by no means is that a light weight car.

More info and specifically, the batteries add exactly 882 lbs to the G90 M5.

No surprise there. Who ever decided that they had to add enough batteries to give it a40 mile ev only range instead of just enough battery to add to the power out put liike the c8 eray implementation or the new 911 way should be fired. That sole reason is why we have the crazy heavy pig we got.

That must be batteries AND electric motor. I read the article, but I’m having a hard time believing that such a small battery would be so heavy (compare to the battery capacity in an i5 which 5.5x bigger).
