Anyone have a guess how many quarter mile runs you can do in this new M5 before the battery is exhausted? I don't know how the XM performed. But I guess that would answer the question.

The weight is weight..but what people are forgetting is the dynamic of the EV side.

The G90 will be faster than the f90... even with the weight . Bmw has already indicated this...also the power to weight ratio is not apples to apples with an ev kicker... it adds an instant 194hp and 332 ft lbs of torque(boost mode)..right now all the time ...

Bmw has always been conservative..look at factory quote times on the m5 and m3 vs what folks are actually getting.

It could make 617hp at 3500 rpm(423 from the motor and 194 from battery)and by 5600 rpm make 717 and hold it and not drop much off once the ICE motor makes peak and the ev motor cuts power. During each gear change the EV side is just dumping 194hp to the party.

If this is making 194hp more during and adds up too 332lb-ft all the time ..the powerbad vs the f90 is different leagues. F90 made 617 hp at 6000 rpm.

The limiting factor is the tranny and how they tune the ev side to dump power.

We all know bmw sandbags power numbers. Will it be 140mph off the bat doubt it ..but a CS version I see no reason why not, let alone if ZF drops generation 3 of this tranny use.

No soft touch has me fumin' but I still like this thing as a concept, I drove my F90's a total of ~20 miles roundtrip most days and that I could do that totally w/o using gas w/ the instant torque I'm looking for when just plodding around is a big plus. That saiiiiddd, what they've released feels like what the next M550i should should have been. This needs a CS badge, ~3-400lb diet, and 800HP+ (rated from BMW, which we all know is much more) to really get my attention again.

Still think this version should be able to do 10.7-8 @ ~130MPH in good DA based on what my F90 M5C's ran, it'll trap a tad quicker w/ the way the EV system puts down power and make up for the chonkyness.

Not to be rude but you are delusional.

A 992 turbo s traps at 136mph. That’s a car that weighs almost 2000lb less than the m5 and is only 640hp.

In fairness, there has never been a new M5 that was 1,100 lbs heavier than the previous generation.

Before the launch and considering understated figures for BMW, I had guesses 10.6 with 134mph (assuming it made closer to 800hp and had a bit less weight). Considering now post launch, which the 2.5 tonnes was confirmed and BMW has announced numbers close to the F90 and worse than the F90 Competition, I predict a 10.8s with 130mph tops, most likely a 11s with 128mph

Not to mention the 10.2 1/4mile of the Porsche. Nonetheless Porsches usually trap lower than the cars with the same drag slip time, due to its unbelievable launch and launch control.

Still the G90 will come nowhere close to it.

They do...but

I'm saying a mid 130s is in reach..never mind higher traps if they add additional power later in the lifestyle which the v8 motor can easily make another 100...modify gear ratio and if they do a CS cut a few hundred pounds.

I'm saying power bands and gear ratios do and the EV power application, why this will be faster than the f90 m5 which traps at 130mph with a reported 617hp.

We don't know how much actual power the m5 will make nor the power band with the EV side.

This is not an apples to apples...but

Lucid air 817hp, 885 ft lbs of torque claimed ...1 gear ratio .. weight 5212

10.7, 132mph on 19 inch all season EV tires.

‐--- not apples to apples and the XM has a quoted lower output, is a air brick and weighs more than the m5, has different gear ratios and is rated to tow 6000lbs

The IND Distribution team did four runs at the dyno at Performance Eurowerks in Illinois and the highest numbers that can be seen in the video are 614.84 horsepower (458.48 kilowatts) and 569.14 pound-feet (771.65 Newton-meters) of torque. This is the output at the wheels and if we assume an approximate power loss of around 20 percent (which might be a little too high, honestly), this would mean the output at the crank is around 768 hp (573 kW) and 712 lb-ft (965 Nm). For reference, BMW advertises the model with 644 hp (480 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque.

Remember C&D times are with roll out subtracted. Their numbers say the F90 comp quarter mile is as 10.6@130. With your default Dragy setup that’s a 10.8-10.9. Then real world without like 50 tries most people prob got 11.0 or so.. kind of like Carwow.

I suspect roughly the same numbers if my prediction in terms of time. Trap might be higher though.

I doubt the G90 will be faster. It seems from the specs and current videos released, its M5 F90 fast, which is plenty fast.

At no point when I drove the F90 or F90C, have I felt the need for "more power". So overall it will be pretty quick in a straight line. The disappointment comes when we talk about the cornering

I have $10,000 right here that says the G90 M5 will not trap 140mph. Oh man. What a thing to say.

The math indicates it will be about on par with the car it replaces. Probably another mph in the 1/4, maybe 2. That's about it.
