Z4m40i Tires

Looking to replace the rears that have run to the warning strips after only 22.6k miles.....Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I like the ride, but the tires' life span is ridiculous.
Anyone have an alternate recommendation/endorsement - comparables I've found are the Continental's Extreme Contact and Goodyear's Eagle.

Thanks for any recommendations!

22.6k miles is pretty fantastic for tires like that. You bought a performance car with performance tires, just replace them with a fresh set.

Yeah that's a pretty good amount of life for a fairly powerful RWD sports car. The Super Sports always were one of the better lasting performance tires.

Look for something in your size with a higher tread wear rating (and maybe warranty), just expect that the trade off is grip. You're gonna have a lot less grip to get them to last longer.

I get 12-15k on e90 and f80

ecs02 or ps4s for summer rubber. I like ecs02 better due to better steering response but you are getting rear set so that aspect is mute.

ps4s has soft sidewalls and not much feedback but is slightly more comfortable.

I have the PSS tires on my Z4 M40i and live down in south Florida. With the intense sun and heat you are lucky to get 15,000 miles on them. There’s nothing wrong with the mileage you are getting for a high-performance vehicle and you have excellent summer tires on the car. IMHO, it would be a mistake to make a change.

That is a great performance tire but honestly I don’t think you would get much better mileage with them.

All, thanks for the feedback and reassurance. I do like the ride, so I think I'll stick with the Michelins! Pat

Good decision, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. 👍🏻
