Calling window tint experts?

I have tried a few ceramic films in various VLT levels, using multiple different shops. XPEL XR, XPEL XR Plus. Global ceramic and also 3M ceramic IR.

My problem's are all the films give a glare from headlights behind me like a ladder looking effect. Also certain angles from the sun makes the tint hazy looking without good clarity.

Is this just me with this problem or is this just how window tint is? Is there a brand that does not do this?

I have never had those issues with 3M or Llumar. I have Llumar IRX on all side windows of my cars, and their clear Air80 on all windshields.

The only visual clue it's even there is at certain times of the day in the sun, you can see a slight rainbow effect. But that's true of all films.

I bought mine tinted. First tinted car. I find the back window to have some optical clarity issues, but not too bad. No idea what brand. Eventually I'll get it redone with something better. I'll ask them about 3M or Llumar.

I believe it's caused by the defroster lines. I don't think tint type matters.

I have the same on two cars, no problems with glare or distortion. I really like Llumar (did you get it installed at Signature in Costa Mesa?).

+1 for Llumar products. I have been using Llumar products for longer than half the people on Bimmerpost have been alive! They have never disappointed me and I am a picky sum b!tch!! Llumar has lots of products today, including ceramic. Ceramic is not an absolute must. They have very good metalized films. Their ceramic is FormulaOne Pinnacle. www.llumar.com will get you to everything they offer.

On my g80, the dealer installed Suntek 25-30%, on sides and rear (the sales person wasn’t sure exactly which one). And I don’t notice any such issues.

My model 3 has 20% all around Xpel XR plus, and again, no such issues.

However, I do notice a “rippling” effect on the model 3 windshield which has Xpel XR plus 70%.
