Try more like $5k per WHEEL, unless you can find the discs on discount (which then, you're a lot closer).

And, both the CCB's and the metals on F90's can squeal. Depends on how you use them, and how much transfer layer you've laid.

I prefer the metals for the F90. Both street and track. While the CCB's brake fantastically, they are a pain to use, replace, and re-pad.

none of my ccbs on my porsches squeal even after tracking still on original pads. bmw cuts corners on their already shit pads thats why they squeal.

FWIW my squeaky brakes have mostly went away! I think I hear them once in a while but not frequently enough I can remember when it last happened and I drive with the windows down whenever I can.

They stop better in dry conditions, and they do better with heat from heavy use. They also weigh less so the car technically should perform better. They do last much longer under normal driving. Track driving they will wear much faster than normal driving, but if the pads are changed early you can extend the rotor life considerably.

Everyone commenting that you will need CCBs are forgetting the G90 is a PHEV, at least 80-90% of your braking will be regen braking, not using the pads/rotors. I have 9500 miles on my Taycan CT 4S, on Porsche steel brakes, no issues with dust or stopping power, similar weight to the G90. I also had a '24 XM Base, ceramics aren't even an option, it weighs 6,000lbs and usually friction brakes only handled the completion of the stop, so the last 15mph to 0. Very little brake dust, zero issues with emergency stopping, had the XM for 3400 miles. Get the CCBs if you like the look of ceramics, otherwise they are, in my opinion, a waste of money on PHEVs and BEVs.

+1 the regenerative breaking helps a lot
I also drove the XM on multiple occasions and i can say the breaking is excellent as well as the cornering
I am not ordering the CCBs

I don't think braking will be an issue on the steel or CCB. The question will be brake dust and longevity vs replacement.

As a fellow XM owner it stops very well for 6000lbs.

Per Car And Driver.... that's 2-4ft off a M3 which is 2300 lighter.

Then you look at our latest XM test numbers and shake your head so hard it hurts: 3.4 seconds to 60 mph, just 105 feet to stop from that speed, and a 0.97 g average on the skidpad (a 2023 model we tested hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and took 103 feet to stop).

CCB's 100%

If I order a new G90 M5 I will order the ceramics.

I have 911 w/ ceramics and am a 100% convert .

My F90 M5 has squeaky steel brakes that produce so much brake dust, and have a huge price @ 30K ish mile to replace .

Id rather pay the $8500 and know Im never replacing the brakes, have better stopping resistance, and NO brake dust

Ever since I've experienced CCBs on my G80, I'm in love with them. The stopping power, confidence, and cleanliness are worth it.

Just be careful in the wet, or after the car wash

I don’t know if BMW also does this, but on my Audi if the car detects rain (using the sensor for the windshield wipers) it will automatically apply the brakes to “wipe” them about every 30 seconds. It is so slight you cannot even feel it, but I notice zero difference in braking performance wet vs. dry when driving. Obviously in the dry stopping performance will be better because the tires are dry, but I do not notice any difference in the braking.

Now after a car wash is a different story. Whenever I wash my car I always have to remember “the brakes are wet” when pulling the garage. It still stops, but takes more pedal than you are expecting, so it gives you one of those “heart attack moments” for a split second.

No wipe on the CS as far as I can tell.

the best part is paring CCBs with bmws shitty cast wheels. lmao!

you basically have to change the wheels out to a good set of forged then you will prob feel a small difference

I am in Tennessee, so nothing like Canada but our lows during winter are typically in the -5C to -10C range. I have never had a problem with the cold weather performance on my ceramic brakes.

I have CCB's on my M3CS, and try to always get them on a daily for one singular reason - brake dust. I can't stand the filth that the steels give off and it's historically especially bad on BMW's. I spec'ed them on my M5 order.

I used to have M6 and M8 with no CCB and never tracked them but always had squeaking noise and dust due to the weight of this cars.
For this heavy car it worth to have regardless of track or DD intention.

I have a M5 Touring on order and did not order CCB. Coming from a Tesla Model X Performance I'm quite sure that the brakes of the M5 will perform perfectly in every way in comparison to the Tesla. And I will also using the car only for daily driving etc ...

But I also never had a car with CCB's installed so I'm also unable to compare.
