The order sheet does not list it as full mernio. Nor does it list it as extended merino. It just lists it as merino.

For what its worth: I believe the "story" is that the G90/G99 transmission is fully loaded with the additional 200 hp input from the electric motor. I remember reading that was why there would not be a Comp package for this car (at least from a power perspective). The transmission is simply at its design limit...

...and you can always get a MUCH better exhaust from Akrapovic.

Close, transmissions do not care about HP, only torque. The 4th generation of the ZF 8HP is rated at 1,000 nm of torque, which is what the M5 makes.

Also, BMW said that almost all M5’s ordered were the Comp Package, so the just made went down to one model.

Seeking input - does Vegas Red work with the Kyalami interior?

I like both color choices individually, just don’t know if they work together in combination.

This is correct! NACS would be a waste of both development and customer costs today…. Once NACS is the standard and has been implemented for a few years, it would make more sense to include in PHEV AC charging systems.

There actually are PHEV’s that do DC charging. My father in law has a Mercedes S580e and it can do DC charging up to 60KW I think.

Sure…. IMO, it’s a waste…. The HV pack is small and repeated DCFC above 25KW will degrade the cells. You’re much better off sticking with AC charging and home and at public AC charging locations. Also, nothing worse than pulling up to a DCFC station and seeing a Chevy Bolt plugged in, charging to 100% at a whopping 50KW… and that’s when it’s at a low SoC… over 80% it’s charging around 15KW. I suspect the S580e charging curve is roughly the same.

I don't think anyone in their right mind is doing enroute charging with PHEV's. There simply isn't any point to it. Overnight/Home charging on Level 1 (110V) is perfectly fine for these small batteries. I wouldn't even bother putting in a level 2 charger (240V) at home just for a PHEV...

...and the NACS connector WILL be important moving forward (even for PHEV's) as that single connector does both AC and DC charging (unlike CCS vs J1772). So instead of choosing J1772 or NACS at your home (and/or on the road) we will eventually just be able to use a single connector for both AC and DC charging regardless of location (or battery size).

Everyone has the right to use a public charger no matter what brand of vehicle they drive or how fast it charges.

What do you have against Chevy Bolt owners? You think you should have some sort of priority cause you drive a BMW?

What we need is more enroute chargers for everyone not some tribal attitude (us vs them) about "lesser vehicles" impeding YOUR charging experience.

If all the chargers are taken, just wait like everyone else. Maybe even strike up a friendly conversation with that Bolt owner and ask him about their car. Maybe you both will learn something about each other's cars.

We are all in this together...

Enroute charging? No, that would be silly; you're right.

However, I installed an L2 charger at home back when I first got a PHEV and I don't regret it AT ALL. The cost was negligible since my electrical panel already had a spare 220v and was four feet from where I wanted the charger.

Having access to more than one full battery per day was great, I think I got gas like twice the first year of ownership. And when we replaced our second car with a full electric it was seemless.

I didn't say it wasn't worth installing an L2 charger, I just said there was little point in doing it "just for" a PHEV. You clearly had the future in mind...

While not for LONG trips of course, if a restaurant has an AC charger available on my long route, or I'm staying at a hotel, 30-40 extra miles of range on the trip or around town around the hotel I'm staying at is great. If there is a J-1772 adapter for the Tesla destination chargers (already a pretty large network) will be decent as well. Of course, not for long distance charging, but it comes in handy. As much crap as PHEV's are taking, there's some decent positives of course. Enough for me to want one, that's for sure.
