I buried the 160 MPH speedo in my old tuned 335xi so who knows how fast I actually got that thing up to.
176 MPH in the Hellcat. Not on public roads.

Seems like it's the same with the STi. It would make the perfect winter DD IMO.

Was able to hit 166 on the long straight at Road Atlanta in the Vette but a few too many times doing that I ran off after I cooked the brakes.
I think what's more impressive is my mid-weekly 100 mph cruises across Texas and still being ticket free for nearly 10 years.

Takes less balls on a bike because it happens so fast. Yes, the sense of speed is greater on a bike, I've been over 160 there as well, but it happened so fast I didn't even have time to get worried about it.

Not too fast by comparison. In my 2004 ZHP 115 mph on a back country road in Texas. Didn’t maintain it too very long.

Hit the low 130's in my 1988 Conquest TSi. As mentioned, had mid 70's bike well into triple digits and back in the blink of an eye.

Not really fast, I don't know if I've ever driven over 150. I know I've driven over 140 more than a few times. It's funny to see how people would react when I had the BMW 428 GC, they always said things like "I'd get pulled over constantly in that thing". I don't understand where that logic comes from at all. It was definitely capable of getting up into these speeds, but slowly and probably maxing out somewhere 140+, not a whole lot faster due to the power. I guess they just mean cruising well beyond the posted speed limit...which you can do in any car, don't need a BMW for that.
I got my 2004 WRX up past 140, a few times if I remember. It was supposed to be limited at there or 139 or something, but I had a few mods done to it and it kept going. I'm sure it wouldn't have gone much faster on that 2.0 engine without seriously more modes, but it definitely showed me that you need the brakes to support that if you are going to be hitting those speeds, which they didn't, pretty much instant fade. Racing Autox, the fastest I've gotten is around 90-100, we have one that involves an oval, lot and a strip, with portions on each. I sometimes see people on certain sites complaining about speed limiters in the 130-150mph range...but man, you don't even get up to those speeds on lots of tracks and you need a lot pavement in front to get to those speeds.

260+ km/h with my old C30 T5 with the limiter removed and a bit of tuning also 260 was max at the speedometer because i went beyond that so i don't know how fast it actually was. I nick named it the hush puppie or "Tick Tick" car due to the rear lights in the night looking like " ^ ^ "

155 or so on the back straight of road Atlanta in my previous C6 Corvette Grand Sport. Let off about 1/3 of the way before the hill, was worried there could be something slow like a Miata or BRZ or Honda over the crest of the hill. When we got to the crest I looked down and saw exactly what we had been concerned about, a slow ass Miata headed into the 90s, still far enough away that we wouldn't have had an issue, but we would have likely had to brake hard after creating the hill and been at risk ourselves.
Incidentally, that was the day I decided tracking a nice car was a bad choice, lol. |
