Hello everyone,

I am the proud owner of a brand new X3 M50 here. A little after two weeks of use I have started noticing the car was very whiny on acceleration mostly lower gears. So instead of the growl I hear the car make on youtube I have this god awful sound and it is tearing my soul... I have since went down the B58 engine whine rabbit hole and found the ZF8 gearbox could be the culprit. Has anyone experience something similar?

Can't say I have. Has this been brought up to the service advisor?

I don't hear anything..sounds a bit less "boomy" than the B58 in my G02

I'd recommend to put the phone under the hood to record (just make sure it is secured there). I think I hear what you are referring to, the high pitch sound at higher rpms, most likely the sound of the turbo.

I here the whistle of the turbo. I just picked up an X3 M50 this weekend for my wife. Will listen tomorrow. It is definitely higher pitched than the X3M we turned in.
