I have a 2006 3 series which is effected...do I sit here and wait for mail?

you can wait for the mail... i doubt they will call 200,000 bmw owners. Just set up an appointment and say that your car is affected with the recall notice. Say you did not get any notification and is concerned for your safety to get your bmw fixed. I doubt they will say no.
