It's a super entertaining video. It's not a great review.

Its the review that most appeals to the POV of a F90 owner. Which sucks, because the G90 underperformed in a variety of aspects. They also go into more detail in the GT 63 S on their Extra Throttle House channel

My complaint is that they buried the lede- the final office they go into ("department of attempting to deal with an uncertain and inevitable future" or something like that) is where the real story of the G90/G99 is. Straight-up comparing it to a hypothetical F90 CS 2.0 is disingenuous (see: https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/11/25/f...ry-comparison/).

Remove Before Race, I think, does the review the best.

And I post this as a big fan of Throttle House in general.

Throttle House didn't really want to be too negative about the car, so they backed out of the review a little, and headed in the direction of entertainment.

But the review is clear as day, that they were disappointed with the car. They go into more detail in the GT63 S in the Extra Throttle House channel.

Yeah, it was clear they were disappointed. Everyone who was thinking that in 2024 BMW could build a car that's just a next-gen F90 CS is going to be disappointed.

And people who are comparing the G90/G99 to the F90 CS don't seem to be taking into account that the F90 CS was an EXTREMELY limited run and cost like $150k... three years ago. Even if the dollar equivalent was the same, that's a 25% increase in cost over this model.

Being disappointed that the G90/G99 comes up short of the CS is like complaining that the G90/G99 comes up short compared to the GT 63 S or the Panamera E-hybrid S. It's just silly.

First things first. They did not complain abot the G90 in regards to the F90 CS. They said its no where as good to drive as the F90 Standard car (not even CP), which has been highlighted by other reviewers (Rory Reid, AutotopNL and others).

Many avoided being confrontational and harsh at first.

Nonetheless everyone rates it as a good car, just not as good to drive as the F90 M5 (but better in other places).

The thing is in their Extra Throttle House channel did a review of the GT63 S E-Performance, and they said its just so much nicer to drive than the G90 M5, and that they expected the G90 to be closely related to it in terms of dynamics (as both are overbloated heavy PHEV cars). They also said the Panamera Hybrid is nicer to drive than the G90 M5, and the S63 E-Performance, that BMW got the concept wrong.

I’m not sure comparing to the GT63 ePerformance, S63 ePerformance, or the Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid to the M5 are fair comparisons. The cheapest of those, the S63, starts at $190k. That is $70k more than the M5. The GT63 ePerformance starts at $198k and the Panamera starts at $227k.

It will be interested to see what the next RS7 looks like. I’d bet good money it will get the Panamera Turbo drivetrain (PHEV with 670 hp).

All this shows me is that BMW will be coming out with a competition G90 M5 in a year or two.

I agree but where they complained was in the dynamics department specifically. Lets not forget a Standard M5 was always much cheaper than those cars and other than the GT63, it was always far better dynamically. They expected the M5 to be dynamically close to the GT63 (despite being heavier) but it was not.

I agree though, you can not compare an M5 to those cars in most markets. Here in Brazil prices are far closer, but US especially, there is a vast difference.
