We can agree to disagree but if it's a comparison between an ad with fashion models but no cars vs. another ad with talking cars insulting each other & saying things like "whipper snapper" and "hey grandpa, have you been sniffing at the pipes too long?" and confronting each other like it's a gunfight at the O.K. Corral, then I would choose the talking and dueling cars as the more cringe-worthy.

My take on this is this is the first of a series of commercials, beginning with this teaser commercial introducing the new Jaguar brand. This will then be followed later with more direct commercials that will introduce the new direction featuring its new all-electric cars. Classic marketing strategy taking a small page from what Apple did in its 1984 Commercial to introduce the Macintosh.

According to one rebranding expert (read here): what they're doing is just kind of stirring up some emotions and stirring up some creative kind of look and feel of what the new brand is going to look like. It wasn't necessary that they show cars. They're just trying to get our attention at this point in time.

Will they be successful? Who the heck knows but Tata paid a lot for this brand and they've tried other options to boost sales that did not work. There's a hint of desperation but Tata knows status quo is not an option.

Well for the sake of the brand I hope you're right and this isn't actually trying to set the theme for production. Be interesting to see a Venn diagram of ppl who find the ad appealing to ppl who approve of children's drag storytime, I bet it's close to a prefect circle. That's the vibe I get off it.

I still remember the day my neighbors came home with a lime green VW Rabbit, it was the most bizarre thing I'd ever seen. Turned out to be a really cool car tho, my neighbor who was a year older than me drove us all over in it, as I remember the little box could relally scoot. Kids got in it too, remember Schwinn's "Orange Krate" and "Lemon Peeler", bikes so cool they even had a stickshift

Interesting experiment - as a lifelong student of business I will be a consumer of the journey but don't foresee this changing my already low consideration for the brand. Not wishing failure, but can't see this ending in success.

I still don’t get why anyone in their right mind would but $100k + EV from Jaguar out of all brands?!

Lucid, MB, BMW and Porsche can’t give away their expensive EVs and they are much more established brands and i’m sure the products are on a different level.

If they actually bring this monstrosity to market - they will sell in the hundreds per year if that.

Why not update the Ftype and Fpace and bring a new XJ sedan and large SUV a la X7. These brands just do marketing BS instead of doing the gritty work of actually improving their products!

Honestly, I agree.

I get why they're not making a large SUV, they're the sedan arm of Land Rover, they don't want to risk profitable Range Rover sales for Jag sales. But I also cannot fathom trying to stuff this thing in a already crowded and struggling market. BMW i7, MB EQS, Audine Tron GT, Porsche Taycan, Lucid Air, I think Genesis has an electric sedan coming... That's a crowded field for a small market.

They should have updated F Pace, and made a J Pace, a much larger vehicle that straddles the line between low sound SUv and wagon. That'd make it different enough from the LR offerings to not encroach on their sales, while offering something a little different. I'd probably make it be something where there's 2 lengths, a 2 row and a longer 3 row, and a version of the 3 row length with 2 super big rows.

As much as Iiked F type, I don't think it was a priority product, and so I'd have let it run as is. At worst, retool it to take the BMW powertrains like RR is using.
