G90 faster than M5 CS from 100km/h onwards

Now more videos and performance tests are coming out, it seems the M5 G90 beats the M5 CS above 100 km/h. Both the 0-250 times and 100-200 times are quicker than the M5 CS. With the hp figure being measured above 800hp, this should not come as a surprise.

Since accelerating on the highway here in Germany is above 100 km/h for 90% of the time anyway, it seems even for daily driving the G90 proves to be an absolute killer.

Now it will be interesting to see the track times!

0-200, it seems that the CS is still faster in every metric... that aside, I am still curious to see a 1/4 mile... but I suspect that if the CS is faster to 200... it may also have a faster 1/4 mile and higher trap speed.

Sure, practically everything from standing still, the CS has an advantage, but that’s almost never the case in practice. 80-120 and 100-200+ are much more practical and the G90 is faster there. They both have their own strengths.

Sure, I agree with you... except a newer, more powerful version of a car shouldn't be slower than the old one anywhere... except it is... likely because what I've seen from the videos it doesn't seem to launch all that well... and its combined with this offensive weight.

BMW usually makes a succeeding gen faster in every way... but it seems not this time...

I am not arguing because even if the G90 was quicker in every category it wouldn’t bother me.. but I definitely spend most of my time in regular traffic or merging onto highways (with respect to where any rapid acreleration occurs). I’m not usually on the highway doing 75 mph with a sudden need to race someone to 130 mph lol. Regular road merging/overtaking, getting into a highway (30mph->60mph), etc is my life. I get the autobahn you can have stretches where you can go super fast but I’m not doing roll races to risk jail time on the daily. 😂 but if you have a sudden need to pass an F90 at 120 or 160mph — it sounds like you can feel confident about doing it. 😆

If they release a G90 CS, it will be faster than the F90 CS or they just won’t do it, for the simple reason you state.

Knowing the actual power of F90 CS is over 650HP and weight is 4100 Lb, the only possibility 5300 Lb G90 can be faster than F90 CS is to make over 850 HP at Crank.

Too fast! I can’t handle the instant torque lol. Realistically that car will smoke us from a stop since it’ll do its high end numbers w/o requiring launch control. There’s a number of factors that make me happy with my car though. I mean I drive an F150 limited over 50% of the time. I’m not hard to please. 😂

This is not true. M5 CS is faster. CS do 100-200kmh in 6.4 and the M5 G90 do 100-200 in 7.2. The M5 G90 only after installing the racechip(860HP+) is able to do 100-200 in 6.33. My stock M8 F92 can do 100-200 in 6.3s

Numbers are something and roll race is something else
I have m8 couoe and i am pretty sure the new m5 will beat me in a roll race
Istant torque and power band is importsnt in rolll races
Yes on paper m8 and m5 cs are faster but in real life not really
Watch throttle house video that proves that
So if u care about roll races not only numbers then g90 m5 for the win
Again i am currently an M8 ownerq
Also m8 couoe stock 100 to 200 i managed best of 6.8 with bmc fikter and charcoal delete
So random numbers without same location and time testing and DA is useless
The same for using different dynos for the same car
There is a lot of variables to count for
I am just trying to be objective (again i own an M8)

I watched throttle house. They used normal m5 f90 600ps not competition version or even cs.
What about 100-200 - Similar locations - Germany/Poland and autum time and temperature. Show me stock g90 which can from roll do 100-200 in 6.4s. You need to add racechip to do this. Some guys in Poland tested g90 and I know that g90 does worse 100-200 from roll than dig with lc. What 60-130mph time you did?

I am not saying by numbers an M8 or cs is not faster i am saying in real life roll race is different and the g90 will win or at least keep up with a cs given instant torque and power band
I do not have 60 to 130 stock numbers
What is the benefit of a car that has faster numbers on papers but in real life situation is not ?!

Do you have any proof or any analyze to support your claim?
A_ provided numbers and records in real life.
Also Physics is Physics so you can rely on it.
Your M8 Coupe (I assume Competition) has 617 HP and weighs 4295 Lb so has power to weight ratio of 0.143 hp/lb. Not mention that Carwow dynoed M5 Competition and measured 650 HP at Crank.
G90 M5 is claimed 727 HP and ~5350 Lb so power to weight ratio is 0.135 hp/lb. Thus M8 Coupe has 6% more power to weight ratio!
In rolling race your RPM will be higher than 1800 so the maximum torque is always available base on M8 Coupe/M5 Competition Power/Torque curve.
Now why do you feel G90 can beat you?

Real question for everyone. Who cares which car wins by a minuscule margin? These are not track cars and any of these vehicles will beat the vast majority of cars on the road. It should be about the style and features you like. For me the M5 provides

1. Comfort for daily driving
2. Room for kids
3. Fast
4. Aggressive Looking
5. PHEV for errands
6. Latest technology

Curious to hear others priorities. Name the vehicle and what they are.

I will not keep arguing about that but it is called instant torque (does not need milliseconds to build like ice engines so the punch will be quicker and you will move faster when u smash the accelarator with no delays like ice engines)
Well the proof is throttle house videos , i know it is not a comp but the power to weight ratio of the regular m5 is still better then the g90 and was beaten
Same thing for the e63 and rs7
I can not explain it more then that but there is videos to prove it
You ever raced an electric car or you drove one you will understand what i mean

It's called resond to pressing the gas pedal. That's all

I never to buy g90 because quality of interior is very poor. Inside it's no premium brand. Maybe they do something when they realse facelift

You were the guy with a crazy fast M6 GC CP right? Who recorded a ton of videos of it doing some pretty crazy times (and proved that the 575 were faster than the 600)

Well I will take your word for it. Most tests place the G90 very close to the F90 CP or even slower than it. I need to drive it though to see how it feels and responds
