I used to really piss my high school gym teacher off when we had to do our annual 12 minute run. Passing grade was one mile in 12 minutes. I lived over 1/2 mile from the school, and used to walk more than a mile back and forth for lunch every day. Doing over a mile walking in 12 minutes was no problem, but the gym teacher accused me of cheating every year because I walked the entire time and didn't run one step.....

That's impressive. If I were the coach I'd be shaking your had. 5 mph walking is hard to do without transitioning to running.

Some coaches just like to bust your chops. They think it's a motivating technique. This technique works for some, but not for all.

I think it's believed that mostly old people play it and maybe they did but it's gaining popularity with younger players as well.

TBH, I never recorded a song off a transistor radio onto a tape recorder, but did record a song (and full albums) from the radio onto a cassette.

Our PE/coach teacher didn’t swat us. Instead, we received a D, or worse.

The only time I remember our coach hitting anyone is when one student
called him by his first name. Our coach punched the kid in the jaw and
knocked him out cold, without warning. Nothing ever came of the incident.
This happened in ‘64 or ‘65.
