For those of you with the new iPhone 3G

Is there any way to get a missed call or missed text alert (audible)?

Garage List
The only way I have found so far that gives any sort of audible alert for anything via bluetooth:

If you are playing music from your iphone through the car's stereo and your phone is not on vibrate, the sound will dim for a moment when you get a text (for the phone to play that sound, not through the stereo)

Otherwise, if you arent using the bluetooth in your car and you are playing music, it should play through the speakers when you get a text or a call

That would be a neat app

**sidenote:

yesterday I downloaded simplifymedia, do yourself a favor and go d/l that app, 1st 100k users get it free I think, and it lets you stream your itunes library from your computer, to your phone...anywhere theres reception on your phone, its sick

thats not a solicitation haha, just so much fun to toy with this thing

they had a app just for this in the installer off jailbreak. Apple is so retarded they haven't released anything such as that and picture messaging. If some of these things don't start coming out soon im leaving Apple and going with BB Bold

There is Who called service available(At least in Canada). So when you miss a call you get a Text sent you. - So you get a audiable alert with the text. But that is a add on service not a function from the HW

I use an app called SMSNotify that I got from Cydia (Ste Packaging repo) that vibrates for voicemails and texts until I look at it, but it doesn't make noise.

I don't know about any other apps for it, but there probably is.

But there won't be an app that does this in the App Store, because it requires a service to constantly run to monitor for missed texts, VMs, or calls, and alert based on a timer, and as we all know, apps from the app store can't stay running when their main screen isn't up, so this is something you'll only see on a jailbroken phone for now.

Interesting. You would think that with all of the features that this phone offers, a simple missed call or missed text audible reminder would be a no-brainer. I can't believe it isn't offered. If someone doesn't like the reminder, they can just turn it off. I don't always want to have my phone on me when I'm around the house and the audible alerts can be nice.
