Thoughts on the standard grill versus the lighted?

I’ve got an M5 allocation if I want it. i’ve been working through the specs and found this video of the regular grill irl.

i know this is a personal choice, but i kind of am torn between the cool tech of the blacked out vs the way the silvered front draws some of the lines of the car together.

THOUGHTS?

Surprisingly the silver grill looks darn good!

Maybe one option is to get the black lit one and have the other portion wrapped in dark silver

Oh nooooo… get the illuminated one.
Turn off/on as required.
No contest for me but I’m not into chrome.

Silver looks awful. Chrome looks awful. Always get black, or have the silver painted to match the body color.

Lit grill gets massive compliments and I think it looks pretty good. Not as gaudy as I thought.

This is a question I definitely asked myself as well.

Ive always preferred black, but for some reason I actually do think the silver grill looks better on this car.

The light up part is cool I guess, I can live with either im sure. I do look forward to some aftermarket tinkering which will inevitably happen with it.

I would lean towards the light up one simply because its kind of a cool feature then I would hope for a better looking after market design for the rest. I feel if I didnt get the light up one I would eventually kick myself. But hard to say. The grill is definitely a pain point for me with the G90. Not as much as the G80 grill which is still horrendous in my opinion.

This isnt a selling point or a deterrent for me for the G90, and im still unsure if I even want to pick up a G90 or get something else completely different.

Initially when I saw the picture and video with the grill at night I thought it is a alibaba mod lol
But in reality I have to say it gives the car a special appearance
Even my wife who has a classic taste and the doesn't care much about cars she told me few days ago that the grill light is a nice touch when she saw it
Again never thought I will say that but I was pleasantly surprised and no I am not turning it off lol

Check out my post on interior modifications section. I haven’t done the install yet as car hasn’t arrived. Got the two front horn covers for mids at 300 shipped. Wife’s X7M50i has the diamond B&W and it looks great.

Car is not due until February so will do the swap out after that. The instruction page is fairly vague but I’m sure once in there shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out.

Interesting, I don’t see a silver grill option on the European versions…

Anyway, it’s a matter of personal taste

One thing I like about silver grill is it seems in photos to break up and disguise the front sensor which I think looks so tacked on. Haven’t seen in person so not sure.

I cannot stand the idea of a lit grill but that’s just me as I usually prefer a spec that can fly under the radar. Not as bad as the new E class brakelights with the star designs…

I think with the ability to wrap anything in nearly any finish (colors, gloss, matte) you option the illuminated grille, and then wrap it based on how you're feeling at the moment.

If find yourself three years from now liking the illuminated grill then you can remove the wrap.

Wrapping or painting the grill trim in body color would look best, IMO. I did that to my E60 and it looked great.
