I just got a black sapphire g90 a few weeks ago. I usually ppf and ceramic all my cars but I leased this one. Only thing I did was ceramic tint and ceramic coat it. My detailer threw in ppf for the rockers, door cups and b pillars.

Thanks! See you're in Texas as well- Austin by any chance? Wondering where to do the ceramic coat/PPF locally.

Front end PPF if you care about rock chips. Ceramic coat will make washing easier and protect against some environmental hazards like birds and tree sap.

But, at the end of the day, you chose a black car. There is nothing, and I really do mean NOTHING, that will prevent your car from showing swirl marks and paint marring. That's the price you pay for owning a black car, unfortunately.

There are things you can do to mitigate the risk of swirl marks, such as:

1. ONLY hand wash the car yourself. Never take it to an auto wash, touchless wash, or even a local car wash where they wash by hand. Only a professional detailer or yourself can do it right.

2. Buy a water deionizer and wash the car with DI water.

3. NEVER dry with a towel or wipe the car with any towels. Buy a car blow dryer machine and use that to dry immediately after washing. Towels cause swirl marks.

You'll still get swirl marks, but doing those things will reduce the risk.

Thanks- great advice. Currently driving 2014 M5 that's sapphire black. I was OCD about swirls early on and finally gave in. On this one thought about the frozen deep grey, but figured that would be more of a nightmare.

Do satin PPF on it. Won’t give you swirl marks and will make the car look mean
