Lightbulb 2025 Shelby GT350 & GT350R

The latest incarnation is a Shelby American project that comes with an upgraded suspension and up to 830 horsepower!

Quote:
Fresh off the announcement that Ford and RTR were collaborating on a hopped-up EcoBoost Mustang, we now have a new Shelby GT350 in the mix. It's very different from the last one, however. For starters, Ford isn't involved in the project. This is all Shelby—with some help from a Michigan-based company called Turn Key Automotive/Motorsports.

As such, this car is simply called the 2025 Shelby GT350. All the exterior badging points to Shelby, and there's even more Shelby branding throughout the interior. Under the hood, supercharged models have "Shelby Performance" inscribed on the intake cover. Mustang, however, is still embossed on the plastic radiator cover.
That's the other big difference from the previous GT350. Instead of a high-revving flat-plane crank V-8, Shelby offers the new model in two flavors. The supercharged version gets a big Whipple bolted to the 5.0-liter Coyote engine, developing 810 horsepower. Or, you can opt for the naturally aspirated version which soldiers on at Ford's rating of 480 hp. If this all sounds vaguely familiar, it's pretty much the same choice you get in the Shelby Super Snake. The only difference is that the Super Snake makes 830 hp.

Actually, so does the GT350 provided you get the GT350R model. It's a more aggressive version aimed at track use, though still street-legal. Shelby bumps the power and adds a carbon fiber "tub" interior, an integrated roll cage, a fully adjustable suspension, Alcon racing brakes, and a plethora of other race car bits. This is where the collaboration with Turn Key Automotive/Motorsports comes into play. The company has a history with competition-spec vehicles and is working with Shelby American to build a dedicated track-only version for Trans Am racing.

For the standard GT350, buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, and the exhaust is upgraded. However, details regarding the suspension and aesthetic enhancements aren't shared.
“We increased horsepower by almost 70 percent, tuned the suspension, opened up the exhaust, smoothed the aerodynamics, and gave it more sex appeal,” said Vince LaViolette, vice president of operations and senior designer at Shelby American. “The styling is based on functionality, giving the Shelby GT350 a purposeful look. However, the suspension is still supple enough to drive every day without sacrificing comfort.”

Pricing isn't fully explained either. Shelby says the supercharged GT350 starts at $104,999, but costs for the naturally aspirated version or the GT350R aren't available. Production will be limited to just 562 units, matching the total production for the original Shelby GT350 in 1965. An additional 36 GT350Rs will be made, along with "a limited number" built by other shops and distributors for markets outside the United States. Shelby says each car has a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty and retains Ford's powertrain warranty. The cars will be sold through Shelby-authorized Ford dealers in the US.

Both models will be available later this year.
I commend SHELBY for keeping the spirit of ICE with high HP cars alive!
I must also compliment FORD for a very handsome design evolution for their iconic Pony Car

Looks fantastic, and I'm sure it's quite capable, but the weight is still a bit more than I'd like, and the price is eye-watering.

With the limited production it will also be going well over sticker... (at least I would imagine)

Agree great looking car and probably fantastic to drive.

Former Shelby owner…I question the two spoiler action. The wing is optional. Do they put a different front splitter on if they add the wing? I doubt it.

As usual the feels like a parts bin creation rather than a tailored solution.

Traction will still be a challenge with a front engine car that is RWD.

Very much like the last version of the GT350. Just upset with myself that I did not buy one.

It is a parts bin creation. They're buying Whipple's and probably ridetech suspension, slapping the name Shelby on it and a big price tag.

Surprised they don’t get a cease and desist for using the GT350 trademark outside of an official Ford product. Time will tell.

The Shelby IP is a whole complicated mess, but I think Shelby American technically owns the rights to the name Shelby, Gt500, Gt350, etc, and Ford has to license it from them. I think another company owns the rights to the Shelby Cobra and Daytona names and design.

I don't remember the specifics other than it being a weird mess.

I will never warm to the rear end of the current stang, it just doesn't work. The 350 is a bit of a let down, tbh the S550 Mach1 seems the nicer car and the S550 engine, whilst troublesome in early years, was epic. It's lost it's specialness.

subjective, but to my eyes the prior model looks cleaner and better
also has the flared front fenders which the new one does not

it is cool that the concept lives on though!

My initial comments assumed that this was like the prior gen gt350. Having read about the differences I'm now definitely not as impressed by this one.

Its basically just a tuner impersonation of a gt350 at a huge markup... as others have said.

And when you consider that prior generations of GT350 and GT500 had engines beefed for the power, putting a blower on a 480 HP coyote to get to 800+ HP feels pretty sketchy.

The hood alone on that thing is probably $5-7K of the cost. I'd seek out a 2022 GT500 before I bought one of those.

I still hanker for the FPC Gt350, by 2018 they had it sorted, WHAT a sound.

Exactly. This car looks like GT that's been modded by it's owner. The "GT350" emblem looks extremely cheap too.

I am not a fan of the new Mustang's styling. Ford clearly went after the Camaro and Challenger crowds by adding some of those styling details into the car. The car's styling is at odds with itself.

The Coyotes actually hold up under that kind of power without any issues. They do like 850 crank on mustangs, and like 775 on the f150.

Yawn. Another Turdstang. Zero grip, so if that’s your thing by all means. No other car I love to drag down the highway than another basic bitch stang . Like others said, throw a whipple and some ground effects and WA-LA. You have another variation of the same car.
