I read , LEW's crash was pretty bad . An Armco barrier repair was required ...
And after that Charlie's test was canceled .

Forza LEW (!)

Johnny Herbert is gone from the stewards list.
The FIA dropped him!
Reason: his media role and activities are incompatible with the work as a steward....

I think the need for better stewards is something that comes from outside of the FIA, and that they're now acting under pressure.
It's strange that a global sport that generates this much money has referees that are unpaid and thus have an agenda elsewere (however they make their money).
If you look at sports like football on the highest level, it's all paid referees and they seldomly give interviews where they ventilate their opinion on active matters. Because they know their job is to be impartial and they're getting paid for it.

Obviously Zac Brown is touting in the media that he's willing to pay the stewards a decent wage but that just shows that he's just not getting it.
I think the pressure isn't just coming from teams or drivers, but also from global opinion for the last half year now.

Of course the FIA plays the money card, but I'm sure they'll find a few 100k per event to pay the stewards a healthy salary. The average GP generates billions per race in total for the local economy, tv rights etc etc.

Interesting little remark in this video regarding the costcap and how it affects the salaries of normal staff within F1 teams.
So apparently race engineers (and I suspect lots of other personnel) have shitty salaries compared to similar work outside F1 due to the costcap. (the remark is about getting paid more at a le mans team part time to do similar work).
Surely that can't be the purpose of the costcap?
I think they should look at the costcap again and maybe reform it. Like maybe make a rule that any employee that works within the costcap costs 100k or something, regardless if you pay him less (so there's no urge to pay him less), unless he get's payed over like 300k or so, then it again starts falling within the costcap.
Something like that. Teams have millions and millions extra from sponsorship money, and none of that gets to the employees, who have families and have to put their kids through school etc.
So that effects their lives on a bigger scale than it should imho.

Wonder what the Ferrari exhaust will smell like this year

2026 PU - The single flowmeter returns:

— The FIA has selected a new flowmeter supplier for the 2026 power units, with Allengra replacing Sentronic to oversee fuel flow regulation in Formula 1.

— The updated flowmeter, capable of 6000 measurements per second (up from 2200), enables a return to a single sensor per car, improving efficiency while maintaining strict control over fuel flow.

Always found it interesting that some in this group attach little importance to where a team finishes in the manufacturers championship. Each team's employees certainly see it differently. Bonuses to employees don't count toward the cost cap. Win the championship or finish higher than the team did previously, they get $12,000,000 distributed amongst them. Finish lower and it's reduced to $10,000,000. It's said that to keep employees from "jumping ship", all the teams dole out the entire amount.

From the cost cap rules...

"Excluded Bonus Maximum Amount":

(a) For each F1 Team that either wins the Constructors’ Championship taking place in the applicable Reporting Period, or achieves a higher finishing position in the Constructors’ Championship taking place in the applicable Reporting Period than it achieved in any of the previous three Reporting Periods, US Dollars 12,000,000.

(b) For each other F1 Team, US Dollars 10,000,000.
