New cars tyre balance

Does anyone know if BMW delivers their cars with road force balancing of the tires? I never had problems with vibrations with the original tires, but once I changed them or put on the winter set (which again was always bought from BMW), there is always vibration. Only a few times I have not, and probably the tires were perfect or it was just luck that they were put in the right place. That made me think if it's possible such balancing was done before putting the wheels on the production line.

Last year I purchase a complete set of winter tire/wheels from BMW dealer. They came in mounted and balanced. Had no issues.

Are you getting this work done at the dealer? If so, iounds like they are doing a bad job.

Tire balance has more finesse to it than most realize, especially with performance tires and wheels, but many shops still give the job to the most inexperienced mechanics.

Often the tire machine tells them where to put the weights and they just blindly follow the machine readings. This is quick and easy, and the machine says they did it right.

However, if some of the weights are quite heavy it may affect handling and smoothness, despite the machine readings. A really good shop will break the bead loose and rotate the tire on the rim to try to avoid using large weights. It’s more of an art than a science.
