G90 M5 Wheel Spacer Guide

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
We’ve tested multiple wheel spacer sizes of the brand-new Bimecc spacers to find the perfect fitment for the G90 M5.

After some testing, we found that a square setup works best (same size all round). These are the options we offer:
  • 10mm - add a subtle improvement.
  • 12.5mm - a flush fit, how it should've come from factory.
  • 15mm - the AUTOID choice, adding the perfect amount of extra poke to match the car’s aggressive arches.

Bimecc Wheels Spacers for BMW G90 M5 now available through AUTOID - click here.

I'm new to the spacer world -- haven never used them on any ride. What sort of ride quality or concerns should I understand before moving forward w/ buying/adding them?

Bimecc are well known for their high quality spacer and hardware kits, these spacers are hub centric meaning they'll fit snug and safely on the hub which bears the weight.

These spacers come with extended wheel bolts with the option to choose locking wheel bolts to replace OEM wheel bolts.

No noticeable difference in ride quality.

There are no changes in ride quality.

Technically there is a TINY change in the scrub radius by pushing the tires out. This would affect steering feel, but I doubt there is anyone who could tell any difference.

As long as you aren’t going 3” spacers like guys on big trucks you will be fine.

Agreed, spacers, lowering springs, and two rear wheels for the front seems perfect.

I currently have 22’s that n my RS6 and am ready for a little more sidewall.

I'm a Custom Wheel kinda guy. 😉

But these would definitely be a must if I'm sticking with stock. 12.5 specifically.

I heard some stories about insurances not liking them -- especially when you get in an accident. They might cancel your policy. (but this applies to almost any modification)

With those stock wheels and tires, I like the no spacer look the best.

Don’t some German engineers somewhere make decisions (like where the wheel sits in relation to the axle) for a reason? Seems messing with that for looks could have consequences.

Where the wheel sits in relation to the axis the steering rotates around is called the scrub radius, but a 12mm spacer adjusts this by such a tiny amount it should make little to no difference.

Now if this were a Porsche with an RWB kit where you are pushing the wheels 3” further out then yes, but with this small of an adjustment there isn’t much to worry about. Anything for this vehicle will be a well engineered “hubcentric” spacer that should have zero difference in handling or ride quality/vibrations.

People buy aftermarket wheels all the time which have offsets different from factory. Most people don’t even realize they are doing this. Many cars can be ordered from factory with different wheel options that have different offsets as well.

Exactly what I was thinking. I was also thinking there’s a very, very subtle difference that one would really have to look for between stock and even the 15 mm spacer set up.

But here’s what I’m wondering… With the wheels & tires extended out wouldn’t that tend to have road debris splashed up against the rocker panel area along the length of the car and even behind the rear tires?

You can easily tell when 15mm spacers are on a car. And it makes a big difference in stance (along with lowering).

Non car people may not know why it looks better, but they know it does.

Generally speaking, different factory wheel options usually do not alter the track width (tire center to center measurement) and therefore scrub radius on the front.

I’m sure there are examples if you look, but the changes will be less than adding 15mm wheel spacers.

I’m just making a point. I use spacers on my 5. A BMW Engineer would lose sleep over it, I can barely tell a difference. If you were driving at the limit on a track the change would be far more obvious.

Yes, it will exacerbate the issue.

Oh, nice! Custom wheels really do add that personal touch! 😎 And going with 12.5 sounds like a solid choice if you're sticking with stock.

not even close to true. Show me the exclusion on an insurance policy and I'll begin to take this seriously.

Yes it will which is why you should always have paint protection film on your rocker panels.
