Will not having M Driver's Package affect resale?
Hi all, coming from an E63s wagon that was unlimited and I was wondering if not ordering the M Driver's Package on the G99 would be a negative for future resale? I had my E63s in Germany, but I figured 155MPH in the U.S. would be fine, but thinking now that some people would not want a limited supercar? Also, the driving experience is probably worth a good bit of the price. Thanks!

I always get the M Driver pack on my cars. But I don't think it will increase resale. It's just a cool feature but not something people will pay extra for on a used car.

Honestly, very few options actually *increase* re-sale. Especially if you're trading in or using one of those other dealer-seller services (Carsense, ect). From my experience very little changes what their offer is other than tire life, mileage and condition.
Private buyers? Maybe. But I would not count on that option making any difference in resale value at all.

Doesn't change jack....
To be honest, I always had M Drivers Package because these darn cars are so capable, that its annoying sometimes hitting the limiter. But to be darn honest, its getting rarer and rarer to have road and conditions to hit those speeds, especially in the US. So who cares? And people who want to go stupid fast would tune and remove the limiter anyway. The G9x will be a depreciation disaster anyway. The spec will be more important than that package. |

Thanks everyone, yeah I probably could have used better wording in that I was not thinking it would increase resale, but more thinking down the road someone might avoid wanting my car because it did not have it. Sounds like not a factor in the US. Also I am guessing the track experience is not something that passes to someone else and I likely would have used that up, and it is probably worth a lot of that extra $2500. And, yes I was thinking removing the limiter would be a chip/software thing, but someone at the dealer had me thinking there was some hardware component to it.
Also, you have helped me anticipate this thing dropping in value big time (and I was not planning to flip it ![]() Thanks again everyone. |

Boost Function
If my research into the M Driver's Package is correct, in addition to a trip to a BMW performance driving center and a raised top speed limiter, the Boost function is embedded in the M Driver's Package. Boost Mode, as I understand it, preconditions the drivetrain for maximum power for 10 seconds between speeds of around 13 to 90 MPH. So it might be worth it if you want to impress your friends by switching from full electric driving to full track attack mode. I could be wrong about Boost Mode, but that's what I've gleaned from the sparce information about it.

Yeah, that's actually the best argument against. I have driven all of my cars to top speed, but the choice of road is critical. Hitting even a small compression in the road over 100 mph could be fatal. And expansion joints, same story.

Best bet, stick to 60-130 max and don’t get your self wrapped up in winning if the car is keeping up or creeping up, slow down and restart from 60

In most cases if you have a car length on any amg and you have gone past 100mph, hit the brakes as you have made the point already that you’re in a fast enough car. Be happy and safe
