That is how much the new TL (SH-AWD) weighs - isn't that a bit too heavy?

it is for the awd platform but yeah still pretty heavy. I guess maybe they're adding more things to it, like more sound deadening, more tech, etc. I guess we'll have to see whats in the new model.

A 2009 Acura RL weight is around 4110 pounds(Yahoo!)

As the op wrote, Acura TL weighs around 3917 pounds.

A 2009 ,Audi B8 A4 (3.2 V6) weighs around 3817pounds (edmunds)

A 2008 335XI weighs around 3825 pounds(yahoo)

A 2008 G35X sedan weighs around 3704 pounds.

And (I couldn't find the AWD weight for this model) a RWD 2009 Cadillac CTS
(3.6 V6) weight is around 3874 pounds.

Looking at all those weight figures, the upcoming Acura TL isn't that bad. You have to understand that the upcoming TL has grown alot in size. With the AWD hardware added, it was suppose to weigh that high. Also....most of the reviews I have read about it suggest, it's close to the size of Acura RL(flagship).

Another fact, SUV's usually weigh more then 2 tons (around 4400 pounds). An e.g: the upcoming X6 with the TT V8 weighs around 5269 pounds(yahoo)

If you want to check the weight of other cars which might not be on this list, you can do it like this....
