Personal Assistant PSA

Much has been said about the driver interface with controls in the G90 with lack of physical buttons you have to delve sometimes deep into menu settings to get to where you need to be. I can’t remember if my F90 has the voice activated personal assistant or not as all my buttons were preset to get me where I wanted to go so it was easy. For instance channel presets for radio could be used as shortcuts to menu functions like stereo EQ etc.

I’ve stumbled on the personal assistant function in the G90 and it’s actually pretty efficient and adept in getting directly to menu functions and commands such as climate control, seat heat/cool, volume control, Nav, etc etc. a simple push on the microphone button followed by the correct command and it does it for you instead of digging into I drive sub menus to make the adjustments. I’m sure there is a ton more functionality than I’ve discovered in 2 trips made today but so far it’s promising for mitigating the lack of physical buttons to make changes while driving.

Anyway I may have been the last to figure this out but was worth a mention to alleviate the hassle of touch screen only control.

Yes it is available in the F90. I typically use it for directions.

Any tips / surprises you have found more useful than others with this?

I have been using the voice recognition on my LCI X5 and I must say it has been improved a lot since i drive 8.0 / 8.5

You could use it like -
- switch on/off the rear climate control
- switch of/off rear reading lights
- open/close passenger window
- switch on driver / passenger seat massage

The PSA has been around since IDrive 6.0, but honestly its last iteration in IDrive 8.0 is pretty flawless.

Daymmm.. anyway another command I tired this evening is this - "Set distance control to close / medium / far" and it basically sets the adaptive cruise control distance from the vehicle ahead.
