I've had the same question, since BMW took everything but the 4 jacking points out of the manual.
It was recommended to me in the rear instead on on the Diff itself (as BMW has recommended in the past), use the subframe cross member brace right before the diff. In the front, about there is a plate about a half a foot from the jack pads that bolts to the front subframe you should be ok to jack from. I would love to hear from others, or even pictures. I may just end up ordering a quickjack (6000ELX), instead of messing with jackpoints and jackstands.

Yeah this is strange. I'm also trying to get the car on jacks and all my previous models allowed for jacking using the fins on the rear diff but this car is so much heavier that I'm not confident even spreading the load using a plank.
There's an aluminum truss that connects to a hex head bolt in the back near the muffler. I thought that the area where the hex head is may be ok because the it's a node on the truss but to be honest, even as a structural engineer I'm not confident in trying that point without knowing more. The thrust field is too thin to use for sure. There's definitely no observable front jacking point. Last edited by NYG; 04-24-2026 at 10:43 AM.. |

So I had to use an additional jacking point while working on the car and determined that the following two points were the safest locations. No issues/noises/flex. Only used it temporarily. Shout out to IND for having this photo up to use.
