6 speed / Tremec TR6060.

For 40K (sunroof and trans are the only options) this seems to be a lot of car. MPG is going to be near 12-13 City I would think. Looks like it may be a fun sedan for the money. Add a SC and it would be a beast.

Wouldn't adding a SC to any car make it a beast? I think base price is a little too much comparing to the 6.0L G8 GT.

I'd take that money and invest on some nice mods to outrun the gxp.

It's like comparing 335i tuned to the m3 only these cars are not as refined or prestige as the m3.

I am only some what familiar with these cars. The GXP has what, about 40 more hp than the GT?
The SC comment is from what I read on some blogs. Around 500hp.

Tuning the GT to be like the GXP is like tuning a 335 to be like a M3 right? The GXP has better brakes, suspension, wheels and seats from what I read?? I could be wrong. And the GT does not offer a 6-speed.

From recent bad experiences, I am through modding under the hood. Maybe wheels/tires and a good tint job and that would be it for me.

You can get this car for 38K and to me it seems to be a good bang for the buck. The interior room numbers are quite nice too.
Depreciation is another story....

do you currently drive a newer bmw? i've driven the g8 gt - not the gxp - and my god it feels every ounce of its weight and overall size. i also recently had a 528xi loaner car which is about the same size and weight (albeit this one had a poor excuse for an engine) yet the car still felt nimble...

there are a whole slew of things the domestic car manufactures just can't seem to get right like the germans can..

oh - and the g8 feels as much of as afterthought as the 05 gto i owned....

take a close look at the climate control buttons and you will notice they didn't invest the time and money to swap the important controls around so they would make sense for a left hand drive market (as this car is produced primarily for a right hand drive market)

point is - you get what you pay for

While I haven't driven a G8 GT yet( dealers are being tightwads and not allowing test drives. Have to buy it to drive it. ), you're impression is going against the grain of practically every car mag. You went into the test drive most likely having a bad impression about the vehicle. Then when you had the 528xi, your impression of BMW's made you blind to its driving imperfections. Magazines have shown the G8 GT competes quite well against the 5 series.

All I know is from reading. The reviews said the car handled quite well. I came out of a 335. When it wasn't on a lift I enjoyed the car. I am not a track guy so hard cornering differences have just a bit of bearing on me anyway. I am a V8 guy and miss the sound and instant torque. My slightly modded 335 had great torque though.

And for the price difference I would take this car any day over a 528...sorry.

magazines are still magazines my friend.

i didn't go into the test drive having a bad impression of the vehicle. i at the time currently owned a 2006 mkv gti and was looking to get back into a "big" v8. take a step back... i previously bought the 05 gto, but sold it 3 months later because it was a fast piece of crap, then i had the 06 gti for 9 months and got bored - so started shopping around and eventually ended up with the 335i....

i'm 24 years old and have owned 13 cars... i know what i like and what i don't - i'm very particular... magazines don't always paint a clear picture and don't highlight all the little details that a few days/months of living with a car will.

oh god i didn't say i would take a 528.... that car was pathetically slow... i was saying that the 5 series does not feel as large as it is while the g8 does...

a 535 or a v8 powered 5 series although more expensive is worth the money in my book.

I hear what you are saying. I personally do not like the looks of the 5 series at all. I am all over the place with choices.

C63
CLK550
CTS-V
M3 Sedan

Keeping a decent piece of change working in an MMA is why I am researching lesser priced vehicles.

It's up there...especially when I see pics like this. The interior let's me down a little. Kind of stark.
But..my new owner gets serious deals on MB and said he could hook me up.
He just got out of Cayenne Turbo and went to a S63...for invoice.

Yes, I was just referring to the G8 in general, not this model. I think it's pretty good looking and I pretty much hate Pontiac

I have a buddy that bought a C63 and is bored with it after 2 months and to mod it - needs a bank loan . . .

The G8 GXP will be a monster! That motor is a tune away from 430-450 horse. IT is the LS3 out of the 08 Vette and was tuned on 87 octane from the factory. Cam, long tube headers, and a dyno tune will be over 500.

No doubt that thew new G8 GXP could be tuned to make a lot of power, but why does GM have to make those cars so heavy? At > 4,000lbs., a stock G8 GXP will supposedly run 0-60mph in ~ 4.7 sec., but at 3,600lbs, it would probably run 0-60mph in 4.3 sec. They should lighten it up a bit, imho.

They prob skimped on lightweight materials which would most likely raise costs too much.

Having owned that many cars at 24, it sounds like you don't know what you like and don't like. Sounds like you get bored very very easily. Too easily.

How do you really feel?
I like these for the C63's lines.

Renntech's tune starts at $2500 and goes up to $15,000.

I drove the G8 GT for a day. Got it from National rental car. I think I was supposed to get the regular V6, but this guy on the lot hooked me up and gave me his car . I didn't even know this car exists before seeing it.

The car actually looks appealing from the outside. The interior is whatever. I floored it several times on the freeway and from a standstill. It was very loud and felt slower than my E92 when it was stock.

The GXP will be a beast, but 12-13 mpg is ridiculously bad. The Corvette gets 18/26 mpg. It's amazing how fuel efficient it is given that it's V8 with 430hp!
