I have a problem...
I am a car enthusiast. I LOVE cars. I love so many different cars so much that I can never help but think about what next car to buy after my current one. This occurs even when I've only had my new car after several months. I love my car to death but I'm always thinking of the next thing.
Is anyone else as obsessive as I am and wishes they could change their car like their underwear? |

Try what that other guy said, mod. If you bought your car, mod it up. You can keep things interesting by changing up the looks with bumpers, wheels and what have you. Install a piggyback if it feels slow. Install a stiffer/softer suspension if the ride's not good enough for you. Change the steering wheel, the trim, whatever you want.

I have that exact problem. I leased my 335 for 2 yrs, and already bought my next car with 5 months remaining on the lease. It is a used S2000 which I got a good deal and couldn't pass it up. We need to buy used cars that have already taken the big hit..won't lose as much when you go to sell it down the road. I'll probably keep the S2k for a yr or so and get a used E90 M3.
It's a horrible but fun habit. |

Here are my addictions in the last year: 1) Traded my 06 E90 for a new 06 Saab 9-3 in Oct 2006 - I was in a 30 month lease with my E90. I traded it in after 12 months and got $500 less than what the buy out was. My next payment of $550 was due in 8 days so I considered it a wash. Also, I did not put any money down on my E90 lease. Paid $22,000 for the Saab (MSRP was $28,300), which was a great at the time as Saab was giving big rebates to unload the 06. I financed the Saab. 2) Traded the 06 Saab for a new 06 Saab Aero Convertible 2 months later in Dec 2006! It was at another Saab dealership. They gave me $21,000 for the 9-3 and I bought the Aero Vert for $28,000 (MSRP was $43k). Even though I took a $1000 loss, I knew the Aero deal was too good to pass up. Yeah...it's a GM car but both Saabs were really great cars. I would not hesitate to buy another Saab. My Credit Union is loving my business! 3) Convertible weather was coming so I sold the Aero Vert to a Saab dealer in April 2007 for $32,000. I could have made more money if I sold it privately but did not want the hassle at the time and "needed" to feed my addiction for another car. 4) Bought an 2004 VW Jetta GLI VR6 from a private party in May 2007 for $12k. The car was mint with 36k miles. The original owner was selling it for $12,500. I jumped on this as I knew it was a great deal. The owner did not do his homework on the value. 5) Sold the VR6 to a nice kid in Feb 2008 for $13,800. 6) March 2008 leased an 08 Infiniti EX35 for 24 months. I could not drive due to a medical condition for a couple of months but now that I can drive who knows what my next car will be. I do have my eye on a 335 or the new Audi B8. I'll probably end up with the Ex35 for close to the lease term as the rebates on this car is HUGE so I would lose my shirt if I got out too early. But I'm always looking.....

sure, but most people who say that are the ones who only want the expensive ones.

HA! Too bad for you guys - I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who actually does switch cars as often as I change my undies - about once every four to five years. It's so nice to be one of the privileged few!

Once every four to five years is normal imo.
