How many have switched over to Xsi from an Xti
How many have switched over to the Xsi from an Xti or similar (Nikon d50 -d60, etc).. Any major noticeable differences? Is it worth the extra moola?

I switched from a 20D to an XSi - does that count? After a couple of months here are my observations:
Body feel is noticeably worse on the XSi. The 20D fit my hand better and I prefer the rear control wheel to the 4 way multi-controller. Functions/features are a clear win for the XSi. While the 20D has slightly greater flash sync speed, max shutter speed and continuous shooting rate the XSi has Live view, much bigger display, Live View, dedicated ISO button and, of course, 50% more pixels in its sensor. Image quality is also a win for the XSi, but somewhat less obviously. I found that wit good lenses and technique on an 8 MP crop body I could consistently use images at 60-75% magnification. With the XSi that has dropped to 50-65% unless I am more careful about things like subject/camera motion and diffraction. I would say though that an XSi image reduced to 50% looks cleaner/crisper than the equivalent image taken with a 20D and reduced to 65% - so I'll give the win to the XSi. And in addition the XSi is only something like $600 now. Why not? |

I went to the store today to look at cameras again, because I was debating to rather get another Xti or a D60.. man, the D60 felt great! its smaller than the Xti and fits my hands better. However.... I have a spare 18-55mm lens that I have for the Xti... So might as well get the Xti body from craigslist and save a few bucks :/

Keep the XTi. The difference isn't big enough to make the switch.

^ The XTi has the digic II and the XSi has digic III. Digic 4 is on the newer versions such as 50D.
Also, and I thought the XTi had this too, but does anyone know for sure if the XTi have spot metering? |

If you have an XTi, there's little reason to get an XSi, but if you're getting a new camera, get the XSi over the XTi hands down.

Sounds like the best advice, unless you do a lot of tripod work - Live View would be nice for you there!
