So I won a
$1500 cruise in the carribean, OR $1500 trip to Florida, OR $1500 shopping spree. My choice! The catch - I have to drive 2.5 hours (each way) and attend a "90 minute tour." They told me the $1500 prize was guaranteed. And when I got there I was entered into a drawing that day to win a $40K BImmer, Benz or Porsche. Unfortunately I had to give them my number in order for them to give me the details.
Anyone have any experience with this? Sounds too good to be true. Possibly a scam? Any input would be greatly appreciated. THanks

I just did some research on google. The catch is the 90 minute tour. WHich in some peoples cases turned into hours of pressured sales for a timeshare. Dont have time for this scam.

I had won similar things before, one was 5 night cruise to bahamas and the other one was a much bigger one, a Honda S2000.
I won both of them at the lottery thing hosted in the mall, but I ended up going to only one of it, one for the S2000. It was hosted under sundance (or something like that) travel agent, and they also asked me to attend an hour long showcase of their travel plans which about 2 hours away from my house. There was about 100+ people in there office who came to claim the prize, a S2000. So I sat through their boring ass showcase and intensive sales, then thye asked me to fill out all my information and gave me the $500 shopping spree, then there was a catch. I had to buy one of their travel package in order to get entered into another lottery for, S2000. What a scammer... It wasn't even a legit travel package, it was more like a mortgage type that I have to make monthly payments toward set amount to claim the travel package later when I finish my payments. So I backed out, thinking $500 shopping spree is already cool. I came home all excited thinking about what to buy with $500. So, I got into the shopping spree website, what a fucking scamming piece of shit. That shopping website was basically listing all the nastiest crap you could ever possibly imagine which you can't even find in a dollar store near you. For example, they were having this nasty Fm/Am radio crap made by 4 years old in china which was listed for $10 then shipping was $25 which I HAD TO PAY. Haha... Enough said. None of the shit listed in their shopping site seemed worth to pay the crazy shipping fee. I say this is a SCAM. |

This sounds like a scam, but I have done those time share presentations to get free tix to parks/discounted resort rooms, etc. They're not as bad as the horror stories out there make them out to be. If you're strong minded and aren't easily persuaded, it's no big deal. The laws surrounding it are very pro-consumer and the presenters know this. If they ask what your occupation is, just say attorney.
I was in law school when I went down to FL for a vaca. and went to like 3 of those thing to get free tix. 10 mins into the presentation, the guy asks for occupation/salary. Told them I was an attorney, and then told them not to waste their time pitching me -- I was only there for the tickets. At that point, they just give up and leave you alone at your table placing only a card which states the law (which, basically, says they aren't obliged to give you anything free unless you sit in the room for 90 mins.). I had the free time anyway, so it was worth it to me. |

The only ones of these worth doing is the one where they pay for you to stay at the location for a couple of days. Done this a few time, they paid we stayed, listen to the story and then left and did our own thing for the rest of weekend. The simple out when they try to sign you up and is to tell them you just file for bankruptcy, and you about to loose your home so you needed the time away to get your thoughts together.

I get those calls all the time. they make you drive up to Portland Me or somewhere in NH. Its worth a try if you have the free time. They tell you that you dont have to buy anything, just attend one of their meetings.
