Autocar on the new Audi S4 - another good review!
http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/...-A4-S4/235475/
New engine is 20kg lighter! I knew it would be lighter but wasnt sure by how much. Good to hear... Anyway, thoughts?

They tested the optional 7s DSG:
"We tested the double clutch gearbox and found that it encourages spirited driving. Its tightly stacked ratios help to make the most of the prodigious low-end torque and flexible qualities of the engine. Upshifts are crisp and smooth even at high revs, while the electronics are clever enough to provide an alluring blip on the throttle on the downshifts."

Finally, I always loved Audi's conservative looks and this S4 doesn't look bad either. With a almost perfect interior, conservative looks, advanced quattro, 7 speed dsg, dampers,etc....it doesnt look bad on the paper.... ^^ 7 speed dsg....they love it ....! Quote:

I do. I admit it.
I'm just obsessed with new cars. I always have to drive them. It's like an itch I get. I hear about a new car and I have to test drive it. Then I want to trade for it. Then I say no, it's not as good as I thought. Then I flip flop after that. So on and so forth, rinse and repeat. haha.

At first I liked it, but now it doesn't really excite me at all. I guess I'm brainwashed by the body lines of the E92.

i have the complete opposite view. i think the new S4 is already a very exciting car. the styling is gorgeous, not too flashy, but not too bland; the SC V6 is a great breath of fresh air from all the TC small displacement engines and beefy V8s out now. ive been obsessed with this car for the past week and cant wait to see a definitive video review

Their comments on the steering was promising. In fact they didn't have a bad word to say about the car which is a real surprise for Autocar.
P.S. The old S4 had a 60:40 weight balance, I think this bit of the info from Autocar is probably wrong as the stock A5 2.0 fed car is 56:44. |
