I see your point, but he never stated any time constraint.

And if he can't hold out for the '09 G37, I'd still opt for an '08 G35.

If the OP doesn't want to consider the G35/37, then I'd prioritize the list like this:
1) A4
2) 328i
3) C300
4) IS250

Yea, I'm not really considering the G35 Sedan, just because it looks a little bit "too aggressive" for my tastes. Something Elegant, but Well-built and won't shit my wallet out when warranty is up. Right now I'm really considering the Merc or the Audi, just based on the "WoW" factor I give both of them for nice styling.

Which one do you guys think would be more reliable in the long run? Audi or Merc? As for power, it really doesn't matter... I'm driving my kids, not speeding down the highway with them xD I do that in the coupe, so it's all good. The question I have for you guys is:

Which one would you put YOUR family in? Audi A4, or Mercedes C230??

I've been hearing A LOT of mixed results about the MB's, like how some are just constantly in-and-out of the shops, and others than are fine for 20 years.

BTW, does anyone know if the Centre Console Display (the screen in the dashboard) comes standard on the Mercedes C230? I haven't had time to drop by a dealer yet.

I really don't know. Since your pretty set on either the A4 or the C300 I'd go test drive both. I've test driven the c300 and it's a very nice family car to just drive around in. I can't say much for the A4 but I do love their styling with the recent body change.

Test drive both and you can choose from that point.

It's an option, and one of the more expensive ones. I do like the look of the A4. However, I think I'd choose the C300. I haven't driven the A4 yet, so my opinion can easily change. I think you should test drive both. Bring the wife and kids!

It does come standard. Except when you get the multimedia package you get a larger screen with nav and all the good stuff. Otherwise you still get a pop up display with the non mm package or nav version.

Well if your keeping the bimmer and the car your about to purchase is purely for the family then go for the IS 250. Trust me the Lexus is far more superior in terms of reliability and dependability then the Audi.

If you go with the Lex, you'll have piece in mind that the family ride wont dissapoint, and your fun machine (BMW) will always keep you happy.

Please dont get the Audi if you want to keep it for more then 3 years, they are really really bad. (in general, if you want specifics then PM me). Another thing to remember, Audi is the only vehicle in your list thats still in its earily stages of its life cycle..

My list;

1) BMW
2) Lexus
3) Inifiti
3) Benz

Remember though, the IS's back seats are ridiculously small. One of my buddies has a IS250 and my friends find it more comfortable sitting in my e92 rather than his IS's back seats. The C class's seats are decent.

I'd completely opt out for the e90 because he has an e92 for enjoyment so why not try something different?

Audi's reliability is not the best I have to agree but extended warranties are always great :P.

My choice would would be, given the options

1. C300
2. IS250
3. A4
4. 328 e90

RonJon, what exactly are the problems with an Audi after 3 years??

Would anything be different for the new 09's in terms of quality control??

Ok, I see. With that in mind I'd change my list like this:
1) A4
2) C300
3) 328i
4) IS250

The A4 is the biggest, with the best interior, and sharp looks to match. The C is much comfier than the 3, and more visually appealing (in comparison to pre-facelifted ones). The IS has nice materials, but poor interior design and cramped rear space.

The 328i looks much better now with the facelift, and the iDrive is significantly improved, so it's definitely worth a look, but I'd be focusing on the A4 if you're looking for a sharp car that best comforts your family.

A4's the choice for me if you're going to be hauling the family around..

It's the largest in the class and 5-star safety rating for every crash test from the NHSA and IIHS..

Not to mention the LED DRLs, man those are HAWT! lol

voted other = g35 sedan.....i actually had & drove the g35 sedan for a while & loved it a lot!!
if not i'd go for a mildly used honda accord...if you need an awd sedan, i'd go for an evo or legacy
good luck man

I guess the IS does have smaller seats. In that case I'd consider the G37 which is on sale BTW. I know that the G35 had failry large interior.

The Audi and BMW have allot of similairities, so if you want to get something different then get G37, Subaru, or EVO.

I cant believe the A4 is so popular with folks on this board!!

BTW I do think the A4 has nicer asthetics then the E9x, but it lacks the soul of a true drivers car!!

Depends on how big the kids are and how long your legs are. If you have short legs and have young kids, the IS250 would be most fuel efficient, most reliable, least long-term maintenance cost and least costly. So yeah, it's cramped - but since you already have a sporty coupe, why not get something that just works and works and works. I had a C240 and within the first month, the electronic gremlins started and I got rid of it within 6 months.

BUT, if you have 2 kids, can't go wrong with a Honda Odyssey EX-L. I've got 3 and I can fit 10 feet PVC pipes and 4x8 sheets of wood and haul the kids around and eat in the minivan. At the end of the day, I blow out the interior with a gas lawn blower to clean out all the food and junk out of the car. LOL. AND, it's pretty good on gas and insurance is super cheap.

BTW Audi always has problems! I have buddies who have had audi lemons... NO JOKE. their looks are awesome but reliability is a joke... Too many damn problems with Audi.

For the IS... Terrible room inside... Plus the seats in the back you feel cramped and it's too small. If you are tall you notice this...

BMW... i don't like the look of the exterior for the 4 door.. unless you get the coupe... BUT you get that nice warrant and 0.9 financing right now.

Anyways I still say get the C300* awesome car... gets way better gas mileage, looks better, better quality, and overall a fun car to drive. I'll post pics of my friends White w/ pan roof.

I might get some flame for this but how about a TL. I think the interior is top notch even when comapred to the A4!! It probably has more leg room then any other vehicle mentioned (except the minivan).

Ohh yeh and its hell of a lot more dependable then the german cars. The only downfall is thats FWD!!
