Utterly shocked..

I mean the design is very unoriginal as it steals from many different makes but the execution is great. Lexus should be worried.

Behold the 2008 HYUNDAI GENISIS....

Rumors float of a 380hp flagship version.

Lexus front, 7 series rear and an Infinity interior. No originality at all. Let's see the price and how well it sells.

If its at 40k or less loaded, it will sell like HOTCAKES.

Yep. 300hp, RWD, good styling, increasing Hyundai build quality. If they nail the price, watch out.

I don't have a good sense as to how much it should cost, but I agree under $40K loaded will definetely work.

The nice thing that Hyundai has going is the dominance over its home market. Even if it doesn't sell too well in the US initially due to that badge on the hood, they can probably pull through for a while just based on domestic sales. I have no doubt that Koreans will buy these like there's no tomorrow.

is it me?

there was an article written a while back about this on thetruthaboutcars ( i think )

does no one else see the silhouette as a copy of the current 5er?

which according to the blog on TTAC is a copy of Porsche's trademark silhoutte

btw you can also see this silhouette on the new Accord sedan - an utter and COMPLETE ripoff of the 5er silhouette...

props to Hyundai for not completely stealing the 5er's design, unlike the Accord...bad bad Honda bad!

Genesis Coupe for me. This looks too much like a stockbroaker's car. Still, it should be a very good car for that purpose.

Price will sell this car. Originality costs money.

It isn't even just that. I bet that if Hyundai came up with something original, it would actually sell worse. With an unproven brand like Hyundai, mixing in images of established players into its own design can be a very good way to overcome the stigma. They WANT people to go "wow, it's just like a Lexus!" They can worry about unique design DNA and such later.
