The suzuki sv650 is a great bike. Easy to ride, good low end grunt, comfortable. If you like something a little more showy, bonnevilles get some looks especially from the ladies!!!

250r is a great bike - my wife has one and loves riding it. I have a ZX6R - 636 and it's my first bike.
Riding is great and somewhat fuel efficient, just make sure you take the safety course & ride with the right gear. (gloves | jacket | Pants | Boots & Helmet) |

Ah yes, only if it weren't so easy to kill yourself when you f***ed up on the road I'd work my butt off and get one...

what would you say about a new Kawasaki ninja 650R as a first bike. Reviews say it has power but is still good for beginners.

I would get something used, I like you rode mostly dirtbikes and when I picked up my sport bike I'm glad I picked up a cheep used one. The power is hard to get used to and I definitly am glad I didn't get anything to nice because I did have to lay it down once. I have a 600 cc bike and it is plenty fast for me right now.

My old Sentra SER could take a 250 ninja!!!!!
No offense to anyone who has one, they are alot of fun... Get something with a little more displacement. If you want something light and fast get a gsxr 750. Any updates on the bike you got?

I am currently looking at a bike as my next purchase as well...I actually thought about getting a Ninja 250r buuuut....the Triumph Street Triple 675 will probably be my choice. Nice naked bike that nicely straddles the line between sportbike and regular road bikes...second choice was the Ducati Monster 695 or 696...
*second pic is of the Regular Speed Triple (1050cc) |

I don't understand the mentality of spending thousands of dollars on a motorcycle or an econobox to save a few bucks at the pump. It'll take you years to actually see any savings.

Yea its not worth it if your driving a 1er. But if your driving the E60 M5 it is. Over 500 a month in gas.

I guess it would also save wear and tear and mileage on the Bimmer. Plus, riding is far more fun than driving, but I usually only ride for the riding itself, not to go from point A to point B. Plus, my bike doesn't get great gas mileage. May even be worse than the car??? (especially at triple digit speeds)

Still currently looking for a bike. Family issues may cause me to move out in 20 days when I turn 18. Plus a fantastic deal on a co-works almost new G35 came up. Trying to get financing without a co-signer is a joke. Still working everything out though. Will keep everyone updated!!

Forget all the 600 supersports the new r6 stinks for the street.(very good on track) I would say an sv650 (I dont find it appealing)but its a cool bike, handles great. I dont ride the streets anymore but if I had to I would get an RC51 because high reving machines sucks on the street(I had an R6-RSX-S combo) got rid of both for having no torque and had to beat it everytime to get them moving.
