thinking of picking up an e36 m3
what should i expect to pay for one in good running order. I do not know much about them actualy and i am curious what engine is in them and the potential for power out of it?

Eh... $10-15k for a very good example, much less if you don't mind problems.
BMW really dropped the ball on the cooling system on the E36

they dropped the ball on the cooling systems on EVERY bmw from about 1985 to I dunno when, sometime mid 2000? I know 2001's like my wifes X5 have the exact same problems e30's from the early 80's have, I'm not sure if newer cars like the 135i will have cooling system rot, too soon to tell, but I bet they will
finding a good e36 takes work, most of them have interior rot, I dunno what they used for glue and trim, but it really takes a beating from the sun, there's a HUGE difference between a garaged car, and one that's left outside
