bosco72,

I like hyundais... in fact, i like it because they're really making a name for themselves now... on another note, i can't take your posts seriously because your grammar throws me off.
e.g.
their v. they're
than v. then
your v. you're
These are the most apparent violations.

Oh, i must admit the genesis is a great car. My dad was thinking about getting one, sat in it, test drove it, everything... but he decided on an x5 instead

one last bit of advice, don't join a 3 series forum just to bark back... that's just childish. Plus, although some will vouch for you and take your point of view, most of the e90post members stick together like brethren.

A Turboed car with 100k warranty isnt so bad...

G37 is going to be more refined and overall more reliable and better car overall but for the buck i think genisis is hard to beat. Nissan engines are bulletproof from my experiences.

Hell 10.85 second pass in a stock Zo6... psh.

and just because it wasn't built that way out of the factory doesn't mean that it can't make reliable power with forced induction...

Here is a list of the motors that came from the factory N/A and have no problems handling 400+ WHP without a problem. Hell some even up to 600+ WHP without serious build and I bet more.

-LSX (any)
-LT1 (z28)
-LT4 (C4 Corvette)
-302ci 5.0L (Fox body mustang)
-281ci 4.6L (Edge gen mustang
-F13 (s2000)
-K20/K24 (RSX Type S, TSX)
-Any of the new Hemi motors or the 6.1L SRT-8s
-2JZ-GE (is300, NA Supra MKIV etc)
-KA (240sx)
-SR20DE

and I could go on... none of these motors were "built that way from the factory" and still can handle gobs of power without a major build, or even on stock internals... yes not just the V8's the 4 bangers especially.

You may not have had problems, maybe you got lucky. I can assure you there were enough to go around in terms of tranny problems as well as motor problems even in stock form. Google G35/350z oil consumption issue.
I can't help but find alot of wrong statements in this post.
Comparing AWD drivetrain to RWD drivetrain in terms of launch? not a fair comparison.

And some of the N/A engines you listed,,
Sure larger displacement engines can yield lots of hp due to decreased hp/L compared to smaller displacement engines. s2000 motor does not hold 600whp in stock form. Even a evo motor is considered 450-500whp in its max output in stock configuration. Sure you could get more out of them, but its like a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. No engine you mentioned go as near as stock 2jz-GTE in horsepower to liter ratio.

Both cars are N/A large displacement V6. Not in my interest.
I would only get one for a DD.

AWD+inline6+turbo = winner IMHO (bring back r34 damnit)
or
AWD+V8+tt= also winner

I don't know but the white in the tail-lights makes it look cheap. They probably added that in a desperate attempt to look different from the G37.

I don't know about the "desperate attempt," but yeah the taillights make the car look cheap.

Anyone who says the Genesis looks "exactly" like something else are blind. The Genesis coupe front looking "no different than" a Tiburon? What a laugh.

Well, kinda wedgy coupes with 4 wheels and some headlights. I'll give you that, but "no difference?" I'm sure that all asian people look "exactly" alike to you, too.

Genesis Sedan grille and Mercedes "exact?"

Similar, yes, but a different shape, with different shaped grille bars. Exact copy? Not even close. And the headlights arch completely differently.

Cars of all eras tend to look fairly similar to cars of the same role and era. I could show you a picture of a '50s car, and most of you would KNOW that it's a 50s car, but not be able to name the brand or model. Because they all have similar styling cues. I could post pictures of a '31 Ford and a '31 Chevy, and a, say, '31 Peugeot, and you'd KNOW they were from the '30s, but not be able to tell me which was which. But that doesn't really mean they are copying each other, just that automotive evolution moves along very similarly no matter where you are, given a similar role for the vehicle.

No, Hyundai doesn't have a defining detail that says "This is a Hyundai." You have to already know it IS a Hyundai, but if you're at all paying attention, you know it at a glance. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. The cars are modern and attractive enough to do their job well and the details DO say that they aren't the cars they are competing with. When I first looked at the pictures in the OP's post, I could tell which was the G37 and which was the Genesis simply becasue I recognize the details. To me, there's as much visual difference as there is between a 4 door 3 series and a 4 door Civic.

That grille on the Genesis Sedan is now distinctively Hyundai.

The rear window dip on the Genesis Coupe is now distinctively Hyundai.

And like ChrisV said, Hyundai's similarities to other cars are greatly exaggerated.

Why wouldnt he feel confident? If he bought it with his own hard earned money, why not? Should he not feel confident saying he owns any car that isnt a luxury mark? I dont get it.

Its amazing how these polls are so close. It shows not every BMW driver is how the other forums and people IRL portray them to be.

Pretty awesome pricing

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=141727

Hyundai Motor America has announced that its 2010 Genesis Coupe will be priced starting at $22,750 for the four-cylinder and $25,000 for the V6 model.

The 2010Genesis Coupe R-Spec is priced at $23,750 - sounds promising with RWD, LSD, decent brakes, summer tires, and sportier suspension. If tuned right, this could really be a winner.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/au...rspecnews.html

The standard Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been reduced to a rear-wheel drive racer, with a 210-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential.

Gone is the onboard trip computer, Bluetooth, cruise control, steering-wheel audio controls, and chrome interior trim.

Once that cost was taken out, features like 19-inch alloy wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A summer performance tires (225/40R19 front, 245/40R19 rear) could be added back in. The R-Spec also gets a sport suspension with retuned springs and dampers along with front (25mm) and rear (22mm) sway bars and a strut tower brace.

The upgraded Brembo brakes feature four-piston fixed calipers at each wheel, and the ventilated rotors measure 13.4 inches in front and 13 inches in back.

as expected. though i have to say its very unfortunate for hyundai to have their sights on luxury marques instead of their traditional competition. under 23k my money is on camaro. i dont think they saw this coming =)
