Charge to enter the GT-R is a bargain, but the charge to stay in? Not so much.....

Insideline took their long term GT-R to the dealer to get serviced for normal maintenance. The whole thing cost $2000 and that was due to them getting a deal on the service....... So while the GT-R costs around the same as the Z06, it costs around the same as other super cars for maintenance.

http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/2...mktid=cj260233

$20K for a new transmission
and $2K+ for regular maintenance.

Z06 please.

Most won't keep their BMW's long enough to experience level 1 or 2 service. Especially since everything is covered in the factory warranty. Which would also be covered if the original owner extends their warranty.

Not many of us will be keeping our cars past 100k. Just my example, but my wife will be taking my car over in a year or 2. At that point I'll still only have maybe 50k on the car and an extended warranty. She'll put far less miles on the car and by the time it's 8-10 years old it will still be under 75-80K

I looked them up and for at least the E36 and E46( the site stated those models), level 1 will cost ~$200-$300( and if any repairs are made, then the cost will go up) and level 2 from $500 to $800( again any repairs made, cost goes up). A lot less then the $2K you lose right off the bat with the GT-R since it is scheduled maintenance compared to what might be broken on the BMW that will need replacing. Now the cost will go up if anything on the BMW needs to be repaired and how much the part costs, yeah I can see it going to $2000.

Here is the site I found it on.

It sounds like you're mixing up warranty and service -- two different things. Service is what covers maintenance like oil change, brake pads, etc. Warranty covers when the transmission breaks, for example. Regular warranty and service last for four years or 50K miles. I'm not sure but I believe an extended warranty is available for the M3 but not extended service.
