***:::Nikon D5000 thread:::***

What are everyone's thoughts? I am very interested in the camera, I am on the market for a new DSLR, and I think that might be it. It's freaking awesome.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about:

Thoughts? Opinions?

I think it's pointless. They should have added auto-focus and stereo output to D-Movie - then I would see a reason to get it. Actually, correct me if I'm wrong; I'm not sure what's different about the D5000 besides the LCD.

Oh wait it replaces the D60? Then I guess there is a point.

I may be missing the point here, but I don't get the D5000. Just seems to be a smaller body, pivotable less quality lcd but all the same as the D90 for nearly the same $. It replaces the D60 but it was far less $. Big jump from D40 to D5000 ?! I guess there will be a new D4000 soon? Happy with my D90

It's a D90 with a crappy body. The body reminds me of those wannabe SLRs that aren't SLRs from Canon and Panasonic with no topview LCD datascreens and non interchangeables lenses. For just a little more, I'd rather get the D90.

D300 is the way to go for good useable pics.
