Tips on searching

I guess I really don't understand how search works. Can someone help me understand how to search on 2 together such that I get post/threads that match both words and not just one? For example, if I want to search for "Goodyear tires" and I put "Goodyear tires" in the search box I find posts/threads that have "Goodyear" in them and also threads that have "tires" in them when I only want posts/threads that have "Goodyear Tires".

try goodyear+tires

Frankly, I find google search to be more effective in most cases. E.g.

"good year" site:bimmerpost.com
