I got diagnosed with pleural thickening.

I came back from the doctor after a chest x-ray and he told me that I have pleural thickening of the chest area. My lungs are all clear of anything on the x-ray. The pleural thickening was mostly like caused by the abestos exposure that I ended inhaling at my workplace years ago when people were trying to remove it and the asbestos ended up all over the air. I will have to do a CT scan to see if I really have a more serious condition.

My workplace didn't protect me at all. I think life is unpredictable and many times unfair. After being diagnosed, I really appreciate life and everyone around me much much more. It's a sad day for me, but I hope it's nothing too serious and it won't end up being a more serious asbestos related disease in the future. Who knows? I have to pray!!! I'm in my 20's only.

Sorry to hear that. i hope it's nothing serious when the final diagnosis is in.

If not, I would definitely contact a lawyer to file a law suit against your employer. This sounds like a classic case of gross negligence on their part and the contractor who performed the work.

my god. That is terrible man. I am at the age of 17, and I have been going through a serious condition ever since the age of 6. What the condition is, is a different story.

Sorry to hear that. Let's hope that it's just benign thickening.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement and prayers. Since the news, I've been extremely depressed. I've been sleeping in my bed for most of my time when I get home from work and I haven't really been online. I'm still waiting for the appointment time for my CT. I'm really scared as heck, but I've been praying. I will consider action against my employer after when I get results from my test.

Hey man, I'm really sorry to hear that, but godwilling, you will be ok. It is sad that it takes something like this for most people to realize the true value of their lives (not targeting you specifically) and not to take things for granted.

Hopefully, nothing will happen and you'll be fine

a little pleural thickening on chest xray isnt uncommon. if the lung fields are clear its okay for now. You no longer work with anything in the air correct?

best wishes on the CT scan, but for now dont worry much about it

Did they say you had pleural plaques/calcifications?
Just thickening doesn't mean a whole lot.

What was the reason for the CXR and how long ago was the exposure?

Let us know what the CT shows.

I believe my doctor didn't tell me the entire story of my chest x-ray. I was too afraid to ask more questions during that visit. I'm going for the CT next week. So far, I'm really afraid, cried a lot, had problems concentrating, slept more than usual, lost a lot of interest in life right now. I'm just praying right now that I will things will turn positive as if nothing happened.

It was just one big exposure. Apparently, people were removing abestos for over a week and they weren't following safety protocols. So, I was told that a big cloud of dust (asbestos) was all over the hallway. I used the hallway all the time and I inhaled it.

I never smoked in my entire life. Not even one cigarette. I enjoy having a healthy lifestyle. The pressure of this situation is putting an enormous uncertainty in my life right now. I want to get married, start a family, have grandchildren etc.

I hope my prayers gets answered.

I just found out that they found nothing abnormal with my chest CT scan. I would like to thank GOD and my saviour Lord Jesus, and everyone who prayed for me. I prayed so much and praying really works and I want to say GOD is AMAZING and GOD listens to your prayers. I believe the radiologist who looked at my chest x-ray didn't get the correct results of the diagnosis. So, I can live life normally right now. I am happy.

For all the Christians out there, here is an amazing prayer.
