he IS350 has a 3.5L V6 and it has 306hp and 277 lb-ft torque. It's also been said that this engine is very limited... and that you can gain 20hp by simply changing the exhaust. The 335i is an inline-6 with TWIN TURBOS... yet it yields 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. It's best 0-60 time is pretty much the same as the automatic-only IS350 SEDAN.

While I realize that 335i must be one helluva peformance machine... being that it's from BMW... I must say I'm a bit underwhelmed by the engine specs. Subaru is getting those same specs from a single turbo 2.5L inline 4.

I am the only person here that was expecting more??? I remind you once again... the BMW 335i coupe is no faster than the IS350 sedan!

yup, 335i engine is limited!!! 350 WHEEL horsepower with JUST a chip is just not enough powah! :rocks:

Is the 335i intercooled? if not, I would be afraid to up the boost on it.

it'll be interesting to see the difference in price between the IS350 and the BMW 335i, similarly equipped! Bet it's a LOT more than 700 bucks..

actually fully maxed out on options they come out to about the same. so, i'll bet you a lot more than 700 bucks... how about, i'll bet you your car....... so i can trade it in for a 335

BMW posted some performance figures on their website already... and the 0-60mph times of the 335i is maybe 0.1 seconds faster than the official 0-60mph time provided by Lexus for the IS350.

again, another fooled by the "official" performance figures. as if 0-60 is all that matters, anyways.

Some of you I presume have seen the power and torque curves for the 2GR-FSE, and how flat torque stays all the way up to redline. I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet about this new engine from BMW.

Because BMW's new engine is turbocharged, it's practically a given that it will have lower fuel efficiency than the 330i. Almost 100% of the time turbo engines tend to have worse fuel economy than N/A counterparts.

i'm glad you didn't jump to conclusions, cuz that would've made you look like more of a dumbass. the torque curve on a 335i puts your 2grfse to shame.

and your fuel efficiency point is wrong as well. god....

Lexus IS is as fast as the S4 or maybe even more.The 335i is 300BHP,IS is rated at 306BHP so i think Lexus have an edge there.

All in All IS is the fastest in the 3.

aye, i'll admit that the 335i vs. is350 will definetely be driver's race. equal drivers, BMW has an edge.

but as far as long term reliability is concerned, Lexus comes in #1 (according to JD power), but BMW is no slouch coming well above the industry average. also, BMW is ranked higher than Infiniti. so, next time someone tries to tell you that BMW reliability is shit, tell them to shove it up their ass

LOL i guarantee lexus overrates the hp and stats of that car. considering the weight for its 1,000,000 neat tech. in that car, and the most likely near loss of 30% through crap lexus drivetrain, the is350 is equal to a 330i. Lexus should start to focus more on Mercedes. Leave BMW to Audi.

all car vs car is a drivers race. a ford focus vs a ferrari is a drivers race..... but a moron in a bmw can still beat a anyone in a lexus haha. my friend recently picked up the IS350, fully loaded. Best part of the car is the navi. the rest is *puke*. its a 4 door sedan with seat spacing like the e92. the interior is comfy, but its basically a nice couch on wheels. the exterior looks too much like toyota. from the back, i can not distinguish a camry to it. the whole car looks like a camry for that matter. and the car is slow as balls. alot of hype for nothing, i dont even know why people went "oooo-aaaa" when they read the press release. deffinetly a big improvement over the old IS though, that thing was even more crap.

actually nope.. not all cars HAVE to be intercooled... there are other types of air cooling, however i've never heard of a major company producing a FI car without some type of intercooler

Indeed the new IS is a huge improvement over the old one. I really like the exterior design... the interior is a bit ricey but but the big side mirrors are nice.

That said... 330i vs. IS350 was perhaps a worthy debate, 335i vs. IS350 is BMW hands down.

well...from what they said, i think the 335 wasn't really realeased yet....so they can only look at specs, and there wasn't a REAL test....

but still....their theory of " MORE HP = FASTER" is still funny....haha

they are two different cars....my sister has an is250...and it is a great car....no doubt....but i have no confidence while i drive it to push it at all.....right now im driving a borrowed e46, which i believe has less power than the is250, but i love driving it, than the IS.....but you can't take away that the interior of the IS is better than the e46 and the e90/92.....but i dont care what the interior looks like, its all about the drive.....a lexus is a lexus....my dad has the lx470, my mom es330 and they love them....i like them....but i wouldnt own one.....i guess im the black sheep of the fam.....
