That reference is to an old Lords of Acid Techno song that repeats, "James Brown is Dead!"

Truly the Godfather of Soul...James Brown was an inspiration to every serious rock and roll artist of the past two or three generations. Those of us who are fortunate enough to have seen him perform in person will never forget; those who did not missed a genuine showman.

He lived a life that was a contradiction in many ways...sometimes running afoul of the law but always mindful of the community from which he sprang. James was in many ways a loner but he gave back to his people at every opportunity.

James Brown may be dead and he undoubtedly went to rock and roll heaven with Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, JP Richardson (the Big Bopper), Jim Croce, Janice Joplin, Elvis, Jim Morrison...and dozens more. The rappers and hip-hoppers will never understand but the pioneers of rock and roll left them a legacy of modern music that will stand them in good stead for decades.

And, ladies and gentlemen, Rock and Roll will never die...

He was the "hardest working man in show business" and the Godfather of Soul.

JB ! Rest in peace, baby.
You had it smooth and you had it rough...but make no mistake.

You made us all "feel good!"

"Owwww! Take a step back and kiss myself."
