if the A3 takes off i would expect to see this car sooner rather than later.

RS3 vs M1 would make for some good watching.

Just because it's a 1 series doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be cheap. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I couldn't imagine that car being any less than 30 or 29K.

It definitely will be cheaper than a E92 335i. And more fun, I think!

I would say they are defiantly bringing the 1 Series to the US. I saw a 1 series yesterday going north on the 14 freeway at about 6:30am probably going to Willow Springs he was driving with a new body style Mini Cooper and a 335 I think, the emblems were masked and no numbers on the back of any of the cars but the 3 had dual exhaust.

i'd be one of the first on the list to buy one.

i'm assuming it should be relatively inexpensive, considering the 1 series is supposed to be a stripped down, balls to the walls, tiny ass car with no new 3 series or Lexus-like technological bullshit. at least, that is what i'm hoping for. light and fast. with a decent interior. no iDrive. no active sterring. no asswarmers. no subwoofer. no steptronic. no bullshit to distract from the road. just a straight up inexpensive, efficient, spacious, great handling fast car with leather seats and carbon fiber trim.. thats all i want.

please come through with this bmw, pleaaase

iirc, Purves actually gave a timetable of about 2yrs or so for when the 1 Series will debut in the US. The version that makes it to the states will also be after the upcoming redesign, and it will be a coupe version only, not a hatch. As some of you may remember, BMW tried a hatch here in the states once. Crashed and Burned. Wasn't pretty, lol.

All that said, I will be very interested in checking out the 1er when it gets here. I too am a bit of a driving purist, and am more into the drive, not the lux.

that thing is going to be a rocket!!

0-60 in 4.6 maybe?? and with XEDE it's going to get really crazy :rocks:

we only have 116i,118i and 120i here, don't know if they will bring the 130i and 135i...

and they won't call it M1 because this was a name of a racing legend a while ago

A probably 135i will be a great performer and like all other 1-series great to drive, but way too expensive.

You'd better buy a 3-series
