For VW Polo BlueMotion owners this means that they only require eight fill-ups per year at a fuel cost of 385 Euros.

"BlueMotion" is the best known German automotive environmental label. It debuted in 2006 with the first generation of the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion, and its combined fuel con sumption figure of just 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres was the best in the world for a five-seat car. At the same time, this Volkswagen Polo represented the beginning of a product offensive being conducted today under the "BlueMotion-Technologies" umbrella brand, which is as unique as it is successful.

Top Gear's Richard Hammond drove this from somewhere in Switzerland to Blackpool, UK (about 700 miles) in a single tank!

The only place where he didn't use the car is crossing the channel tunnel.

I think VW has improved their design recently...the Golf is always a hot hatch back...and the new Scirroco looks brilliant...i like when VW makes some small little fun cars....

Although i cannot relate to this car AT ALL, i understand the point and the facts are impressive. i just stated that the design of the car is ugly. i think they could have designed the car a little better. i understand a fuel efficient and economical car will never be a design marvel like an aston martin, but they still could have made it better looking.

If you're an average German driver. I think the average American drives a lot further than the average German. But yeah, 70mpg would be pretty tits.
